Seems they did know. Now the real question, that will never be answered honestly, will be if Trump was informed and briefed, then choose to do nothing since he believes Putin before his own country's intelligence service.

Pentagon chief confirms he was briefed on intelligence about Russian payments to the Taliban
Secretary of Defense Mark Esper confirmed Thursday that he had been briefed on information regarding Russian payments to the Taliban, seemingly acknowledging that Russia's support for the militant group in Afghanistan is not a "hoax," as President Donald Trump has claimed. However, Esper also made clear that he has not seen intelligence that corroborates claims that American troops were killed as a result of the "bounty" payments, walking a delicate line between acknowledging a well-known threat and potentially clashing with the President.
Responding to a very narrow line of questioning from Rep. Mike Turner, an Ohio Republican, Esper initially told lawmakers that he did not recall a briefing that included the word "bounty," but less than an hour later he clarified that answer when pressed by a Democratic member of the panel.
At that time, Esper explained that his response to Turner's question had been tailored to address whether the word "bounty" had ever been included in any briefing he had received and that he had refrained from elaborating further at the time in an effort to avoid politicizing the issue.
He went on to tell lawmakers that he had seen intelligence about Russian payments to the Taliban in February but added that his top generals did not believe those initial reports were credible at the time, a claim that appears to clash with comments made by one of those commanders on Tuesday, who called the reports "very worrisome."

This is your President. The law and order President. The one that claims he supports the military. The 5 time draft dodger. The President that calls captured POW's "loser". A man of moral turpitude.

Our troops do deserve a whole lot better. They should be brought home.
But those who oppose Trump ran stories like that endangering them troops.
And the people who have them in Afghanistan will never bring them home and they don't care about how many people have died there before and they don't care how many die today nor will they into the future.

I agree with your post other than Trump and his mismash policies. What he did to the Kurds was IMO wrong. I would like to see the troops come home. But what would that do to the balance of power in the world. Wherever we pull out someone will fill the void. If we don't support our allies they will look elsewhere for protection. IMO Trump has done much harm in our relationship with our NATO allies.............. I know you have great respect for Pat Buchanan as do I. The issues of today are very complex to say the least. IMO the republic will survive Trump and the radical left movements of today.

Imo when we gave our manufacturing away and started running up the debt with no real jobs to sustain it.....we cannot afford to police the world and our standing in the world was already on its way down. No jobs and we couldn't take care of our own......you can't lead the world if you can't take care of your own.....and when the union jobs left....we couldn't. So we cannot lead the world. No money. And we really are not capable since they screwed over pur own.....which has been happening since 1955. Union numbers declined since then....l
..leaving the nation in the hands of spoiled greedy multinational businessmen and military leaders who wanted to rule the world and own it.
Pat warned but nobody listened until Trump.

Even though I don't agree with his opinion... I can respect it because it's plain to see that it's not just coming from pure hate for Trump himself by explaining his reasoning for his decision... it's coming from his heart and what he truly believes.

I'll be the first to admit I don't like the "war hawk" Bolton. He doesn't have any problem saying what he feels about Trump and this administration. I know the dedicated followers won't, and don't care.

Bolton: Trump lacks strategic vision, historical knowledge
Former national security adviser John Bolton said Monday he believes President Donald Trump committed several impeachable offenses, but Democratic congressional leaders doomed their effort to remove him from office by rushing the process for partisan purposes.
Bolton told a Florida group in an online presentation that Trump’s business and re-election concerns drive not only his dealings with Ukraine, which led to his impeachment by the House, but also with China, Turkey and other countries.
He said he would have voted to remove the president for his Ukraine dealings, but did not delve into specifics.
Trump “does not have a basic philosophy. He is not a conservative Republican. I don’t mean to say he is a liberal Democrat. He is just not anything,” said Bolton, who served as Trump’s national security adviser from April 2018 to September 2019.
Bolton said Trump does not read the national security briefing presidents receive daily and during the two or three weekly in-person briefings he receives from security and military officials, Trump spends most of his time talking rather than listening and asking questions.
Bolton compared that to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who he said comes to meetings well-briefed, with a deep knowledge of history and a clear vision of his goals. He said Putin believes he can play Trump, who Bolton said knows little history.
“You put somebody like that on one side of the table and Donald Trump ... on the other side of the table and it is not a fair fight,” Bolton said.
“If you can’t talk about the character or incompetence of a president during a presidential election, when can you talk about it?” Bolton said.

Like we have nothing else to worry about right now??? What a waste of resources.

Feds give 65 acres of land for border wall infrastructure

PHOENIX (AP) - The federal Bureau of Land Management said on Tuesday that it has transferred over 65 acres of public land in Arizona and New Mexico to the Army for construction of border wall infrastructure.

The agency says it's now handing over 53 acres in Yuma County, Arizona, that is needed to install power and other utilities around the border wall there. Another 12.7 acres in Hidalgo County, New Mexico, were transferred so that the Army could install power and other utilities along with engineering or roads that provide access to the border wall project there.

This marks the second time in the past year that the agency has transferred public land to the military for border wall-related construction. The first was in September 2019, when it transferred 560 acres in the same two states.

William Perry Pendley, the agency's deputy director for programs and policy, said the agency has prioritized working closely with the Department of Homeland Security and the military to minimize impacts on wildlife and natural resources on land it manages.

How convenient for Barron Trump !!!

Despite President Donald Trump's push to have schools reopen their classrooms in the fall, his son Barron Trump won't be sitting in class full-time anytime soon.
The private St. Andrew's Episcopal School in Maryland — which the 14-year-old began attending after moving to Washington, D.C. — announced this week that while a final decision has yet to be made, it is planning not to fully reopen its campus in the fall because of novel coronavirus concerns.
