I think this should be of interest to all of us. This is in Tennessee but I bet this goes on all over the country. You really do need to read the whole post to see where this is going and it's this kind of stuff that really gets me angry.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. --- A Northeast Tennessee lawmaker believes protections for employees need to be re-examined at the state and federal level after dozens of people were abruptly fired at U.S. Marble in Johnson City last month.
State Rep. David Hawk (R-Greeneville) told News 5 he's concerned that U.S. Marble employees weren't protected by state and federal laws that require employers to notify employees about mass layoffs.
"Right is right and wrong is wrong," Hawk said in a phone interview with News 5 on Wednesday. "I think this is going to be an all-encompassing, both state and federal governments need to take a look at this to better protect our employees."
Congress passed the WARN Act in 1988, which requires employers with 100 or more employees at a given site or location to give employees 60 days notice about impending mass layoffs. The Tennessee legislature went a step further by requiring notification for employers with 50-99 employees.
