  • Citing coronavirus, Trump-appointed NLRB suspends all union elections

I guess any excuse will do.

The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) announced March 19 that it won’t conduct any union representation elections, even by mail, until at least April 3 — due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Just the day before, the agency had announced it would suspend in-person elections, but would still conduct elections via mail if a business and union agree. Because union elections require people to congregate, that made sense in the midst of an epidemic. But ending mail ballots too?
Workers at the U.S. Postal Service are still handling and delivering mail. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control says there have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 as a result of touching mail, and that there is very low risk due to the poor survivability of coronaviruses on these types of surfaces.

Re: Citing coronavirus, Trump-appointed NLRB suspends all union elections

Watch out ! All our rights will be flushed down the hopper with these goons at the NLRB, under direction from you know who.

Under cover of pandemic, Trump’s NLRB moves to make unionizing ‘nearly impossible for workers’
“The Trump NLRB takes this moment to publish a rule that will make it harder both for workers to unionize and to keep unions they have. Shameful does not even begin to describe this.”
The National Labor Relations Board finalized a rule this week that critics warn could make unionizing “nearly impossible for workers” at a moment when employees across the nation are fighting for stronger protections against the coronavirus pandemic.
The proposed rule change from the board—which is controlled by three appointees of President Donald Trump—was published in the Federal Register on April 1. The new rule would eliminate the NLRB’s “blocking charge policy,” which permits the delay of union election results if the employer is accused of unlawful coercion or other unfair labor practices.
“The board is effectively sealing off any viable path to unionization at a time when workers need a voice on the job more than ever.”
    —Richard Trumka, AFL-CIO
“Donald Trump’s caustic hostility to collective bargaining has manifested itself in the most anti-worker NLRB in America’s history,” said Trumka. “The labor movement will fight these actions with everything we have.”
The new rule marks the second time in less than a month that the Trump administration has advanced a union-busting proposal.

Yes,this does not bode well for Unions at all...Not only will union organizing be hampered,we will see accelerated BUSTING of existing Unions during the coming months...I'm sure all the ''LABOR'' Democrats in Congress will be screaming about this just the way they have been backing the Unions for the last 30 years(joke)...I'm sure CNN and MSNBC will also be screaming about this Trumpian act also...Don't hold your breath...Where was Obama in 20009-2011 when he had a ''VETO-PROOF'' Congress and could guarantee Union-Rights that could not be undone by Executive Order...Maybe he was with Pelosi,Schumer and Clyburn looking for those 'Soft Shoes' he was going to wear to MARCH on Union picket lines...Workers who have a whole lot of GUTS will continue to organize, and not give 2 S*its what the NLRB says...What we,as Union Members need to do,is bring back 'Wildcat Strikes' and 'Solidarity Strikes' in this country...We better do something!!!!

What Trump does not understand is that the unions would be the only group who would continue his America First platform, minus our attachment to globalist Dems. The companies won't continue it. The GOP won't. The Dems won't.
We are really the only group who would make his platform a legacy. Once he is gone....America First is gone.
