Used to be a celebration of friends all gathered to watch the opening race. The wild racing of the premier league, all showcased into the start of the season.
Sadly, NASCAR has lost it's luster for me. Prices to high, racing that at times is boring, constant rule changes.
Never a fan of big tracks anyway. I prefer short track excitement. And I really like the local dirt tracks, sprint cars failing dirt everywhere.

Sadly, I don't get to the races much anymore. Limited time and a pocket full of excuses.

I may, or may not watch Daytona. I am trying to decide if I want to do my taxes ... or watch the race.

It's a little early in the week for me to get excited about Sundays Daytona 500. But I am interested in seeing how this years rule changes will workout. I didn't watch the blast and heard that with the small number of cars racing it was boring. I kind of like the restrictor plate races but don't like the crashes. Anyway I'll get together with a few friends and have a Daytona party.

It's definitely a sign that spring isn't far off. That I like !

Now the whole sponsor thing, and the money involved with racing has changed the sport.

I now see "The Clash" is the Advance Auto Parts Clash. Used to be the Busch Clash.
The cup race was the "Winston Cup" for over 30 years.
Everybody had a beer and a cigarette.
Now they're holding a cell phone and a can of Monster !

Ha ha ha, Advance Auto Parts Clash?? Well having a son who has been with the AutoZone for almost eight years now and knowing how AutoZone competes with Advanced Auto and vice versa,I do see in the future a "Auto Zone 500" ..

BK racing has filed bankruptcy. Their car is staring the 500 in 34th place.
BK Racing filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy Thursday afternoon in Western District Court of North Carolina. Among BK Racing’s most valuable pieces of collateral is the charter it has for the No. 23 car that has Gray Gaulding in the car at Daytona International Speedway.

Getting ready for the big race. I hope it's better than the duels. This is the last chance for Danica to do anything in the cup series. Without her and Junior I guess a lot of the race booth chatter between Gordon and the Waltrips will be about Bubba Wallace and the other not so famous drivers............The younger drivers are willing to work for less money.

With Gordon moving to the booth I need to find a new driver. All the drivers I have admired over the years are about gone. It's just not the same anymore.

I've been a fan of Trevor Bayne since he first drove in the Busch series. His only win in the cup series was the Daytona 500. He has already dodged 2 wrecks today and is doing good. We'll have to wait and see

I saw Chase Elliot race a couple times. I always liked his dad.
