Okay, good question. Let's see if we can organize a meeting between Mr. Gegare and some of us and gain some more perspective on his newfound points of view.

I got into considerable thought mode, however it was after I left the forum, and here is what I have come up with regarding this question, which prompted me to draft a letter... What follows is an excerpt:

"I understand from experience that in an instance in which one is a component of a certain camp, one is expected to 'tow the line' of said camp and follow orders; but, when one can no longer conciously stomach carrying out such directives, continuing to do so makes that individual nothing more than a robot.

Independent critical thought founded and built this country, began the Labor Movement and built a middle class. That has much to do with the local union autonomy of which (Gegare) speaks. Much of what I have seen and read explains and is the driving force behind my sometimes tumultuous words and behavior; I am not a mindless follower."

Anyway, you can't blame a brother if he either just woke up during this term of office, or has been keeping mum all along watching and waiting for the right moment to step up to the plate. Regardless, the time is now, the year to take the Union back will be 2011.

There will certainly be more to follow on this but most likely in another thread.

Ditto. I can see people who thought Hoffa would be like his father and voted for him. But a James R. Hoffa he is not. I wrote a respectful letter for which many on this site read. But not even a form letter. Where is he while the Teamster union struggles just to survive another day. We the rank and file are doing all we can to keep it strong even against as the Teamster Freight Director seem to at best be trying to place us below the non union companies. There is no dialog between the IBT and the rank and file. When is the last time Hoffa or one of the IBT leaders came to your town just to see what they could do to make your life easier. NEVER has he came to 407 other than to ask for something. I thought they were to give us things like better working conditions, better benifits, Thirty and out, Words of inspiration. But when you see Phillip Hoffa he wants something. It is time he and the rest of the union See's if you can't help us. GET OUT OF THE WAY! He has failed to see we are the strength of the union not his lawyer or career politician cronies. Right now I would take one Truck Driver with B@LLS to lead this union. After all just look at our history. The best had to suffer with the rest. YOUR BROTHER ALWAYS!

Some of you ask why is Fred just now speaking up, well timing as we all know is everything. Just maybe he is tired of seing the way Hoffa has been trying to get the freight teamsters to just roll over and give the companies everything they want. I don't know alot about Fred but I'm willing to listen to what his ideas are as a change is needed for sure. Maybe fred is not the man either but Hoffa is not interested in the freight teamsters anymore as he has all the other indutries that he is happy organizing.

I think this is a guy that Gregare wants for a VP. His name is Lucio Reyes. Does anybody know anything about this Reyes and has Gregare picked him for a VP spot?

I'm wondering whether Tom Keegel's backing out of the Hoffa slate may have something to do with Gegare's decision to run?... they both have insider information (which Hoffa would rather we not know) that they have promised to reveal later down the road...

Personally, I hope that Tom is in our corner, (that is), with Fred, as an advisor. I have a lot of respect for Mr. Keegel. He is also a Teamster's Teamster. Birds of a feather tend to flock together, and they both have BALLS.

What was the reason Hoffa took over or got rid of the president of Local 331? Was it legit.? Or not? I really don't favor anybody yet for pres. But I saw that and wonder where they and you stand on it.
