Default Hollywood Teamsters Back Patric Verrone For State Senate

Hollywood Teamsters Local 399 stood behind former WGA West President Patric Verrone when he led the 2007-08 Writers Guild strike, and it’s supporting him again in his run for the California Legislature. Verrone’s latest campaign finance report shows that Local 399 has contributed $1,000 to his bid for the 26th Senate District seat and that Steve Dayan, head of the Teamsters local, has contributed another $500. But with only one week to go before the June 2 primary, Verrone still trails five of his seven Democratic rivals by large margins in both campaign contributions and spending.

This is an interesting article since their has been a several decade old Bone of Contention between these two Unions. The Teamsters supported the 1987-88 WGA in their 22 week strike and several months after it ended Drivers struck the studios and the Writers crossed our lines, folks still remember this and when the WGA once again struck in 07-08 for 100 days the Teamsters refused to honor them and crossed the line in retaliation, now there is fresh new faces at Local 399 having ousted long time 150,000 club number 6 Leo Reed and his cronies, between him and his son and a relative they pulled down more than 600,000 in salary, local is headed in a new direction led by newly elected Steve Dayan. I'm grateful to have worked in that biz for 13 years for its has a pension plan completely separate from the IBT and fully funded.
