Default Paycheck Fairness Act Crucial To Achieving Pay Equity For Women

The Paycheck Fairness Act would hold employers accountable for pay discrepancies between their male and female employees while strengthening incentives to prevent pay discrimination. The legislation, along with the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, which was the first piece of legislation signed into law by President Obama to allow more time for women to sue for pay disparity, will go a long way toward ending this type of discrimination in the workplace.

Why should the government tell business how much they should pay a person? I thought we lived in a free country? I guess not.

You could do the right thing and make a stand. Really make a statement. Prove to the masses that you stand by your convictions. Quit that Union job in protest of the government meddling you benefit from every day.

You of all people should know we lost our freedoms in the name of security even before 911.
But back on your question, I wasn't around, but I thought we let companies pay ANY person however they wanted.....
......and since they chose to work people 12-18 hours a day, 7 days a week, and pay them pennies, we ended up having to make child labor laws to protect the new people in the workforce who didn't know any better.
I compare that idea to letting the banks do whatever they wanted to do and look at the mess we're in now.

Your joking, right? How many honest, caring companies would pay a person a decent wage if they didn't have to? I don't think minimum wage is even a decent wage and the reason I say that is because there are many skilled jobs out there where the employees are paid minimum wage.

LOL, well for one, the minimum wage isn't suppose to be a decent or living wage. If you want to make more, stay with the company, learn new jobs with in the company, take what ever training is offered and needed within the company, and climb the ladder.

Or go to school, academic or trade and learn something. Thats how you make more money. Not by sitting around and waiting for the government to raise the minimum wage.

And what jobs are talking about? Do people stay at minimum wage? Is there no way to rise with in the company?

We lost our freedoms? All of them?

Why did the banks do whatever they wanted? What lead to that?

And competition and the need for high productivity is what will keep children out of the labor force. That and good parenting.

I have never set idle at any job. Always did whatever I could to move up the ladder but always worked for small companies that didn't want to pay well. And I did go to school too. There are companies out there that are cheap.

It depends on where you live also. Some areas pay better than other areas. I lived in a depressed area as far as jobs and pay, the Inland Empire in So. Ca. I don't know anyone that made good pay at their jobs. New Mexico is not known for high pay either.

Most small companies don't have the profit margin to pay more.

Have you ever needed a plumber or somebody to work on you're home? Do you worry how much you pay them?
