    Default Teamster monthly letter

Don't know why I even look at this rag anymore never anything about freight..But the Union did get some new members... I guess freight is still the unwanted stepchild in this "hoffa's" union.. Guess he doesn't know the history of the IBT

The Freight Teamsters were once the backbone of this proud Union. What happened to James R. Hoffa's pride and joy? Why are we the forgotten Teamsters?

I think that was a rhetorical question since I know you have your finger on the pulse of the LTL freight industry. But I'll offer my opinion once again. I believe that the NMFA Teamsters were sacrificed by James P. Hoffa because our master contract was outdated and we couldn't compete with the non union companies.

Certainly deregulation was the start of our decline. And fat cat IBT executives, like Presser, Williams etc. and their VPs feeding at the trough, blew smoke us our a$$ while we continued to lose power.........Then James P bluffs his way in on his father's name and decides to run the union as a business rather than as our collective bargaining agent.

He knew our work rules wouldn't compete with the non union companies. So instead of modernizing the NMFA he simply threw us under the bus and started new with UPSF......Just think where we may have been if Hoffa had signed UPSF to a NMFA contract. Where would our unity and strength be? Where would our pension funds be? How much more negotiating strength would the UPSF Teamsters have?
