Default The Supreme Court Totally Screwed America's Labor Unions

Union workers have two forms of leverage: collectivism (strength in numbers) and striking (refusing to work until given a fair contract). Anyone can readily see the difference between having a lone worker complain to the company that it's not right to arbitrarily cut his pay simply because they can, and having four-hundred workers march into company headquarters and complain about the same thing. Which is why collectivism is so important.

But in June of 1985, the Supreme Court, by a 5-4 vote, agreed with an earlier NLRB decision (Pattern Makers League of North America vs. NLRB) allowing union members to cross their own picket line without fear of being fined or otherwise penalized by the union. The majority justices in that decision were Burger, Rehnquist, O'Connor, Powel and White. The minority were Brennan, Marshall, Blackmun and Stevens.

What the Pattern Makers decision did was make scabs legal. With one stroke of the pen, the Supreme Court shredded the fabric of union solidarity. American workers have a clear choice; they can work in a union shop, which offers superior wages, benefits and working conditions, or they can take their chances in a non-union shop. Fewer than 7-percent of private sector businesses are unionized, which means that more than 93-percent are non-union. Good luck.
It's no wonder the labor movement has lost so much traction. With anti-union Republicans, the pro-business media, and gutless Democrats all being joined by a faux-libertarian Supreme Court, organized labor is fighting for its life.

Why worry about strikes when you work for YRC?. They already struck out. Reagan won big over Carter (Obama's grandfather) Carter taught Obama everything he knew. Like letting the Iranians hold American hostages for year..dragging them in public bound and blindfolded. Carter did nothing. Reagan would have sent war ships with Marines who would have rolled into Tehran with battle tanks and blew the city away. But Iran knew Carter was a punk. A Nobel Peace prize winning punk like Obama. So we have Benghazi.

The Carter economy was a mess. Long gas lines high inflation. A one term president. A failure. People voted with their pocket book then. But then we had real Americans. Like Romney said 47% of Americans feel the government is responsible for their well being. That truth cost him the presidency. That he would blow away Iran's nuclear capability cost him the election. So we have..

So we have people who must really on govt to survuve since Reagan because of things like this story.....instead of fairness in the workforce and union power to keep balance....it all shifted to the company and owners.......and when they got the power without union contracts......they shove off their former contractual obligations on to the govt.....

Who cares about IRAN when their working 90hrs/week and cant make ends meet?
Who cares when their on welfare either?
Nobody cares about Iran. It's not our business.
The only people who care about Iran are tied to Isreal, big oil, and the military industrial complex.......and those that their propagandists brainwash successfully.
