Throughout 2013 alone, more than 1,300 professional drivers and workers were trained in Joliet in a variety of special skills at the Illinois Teamsters’ Employers Apprenticeship & Training Fund. The facility has worked since 2005 to help nearly 8,000 union members obtain commercial driver’s licenses (CDL) and state certification in construction safety, Hazmat operations and heavy machinery, including loaders, cranes, dump trucks and forklifts.

“Teamsters Joint Council 25 established this training fund for one simple reason — to create jobs,” said John T. Coli, President of Joint Council 25. “The more workers have access to CDL and certification training, the more employable they’re going to be. History has shown that there’s no more qualified or skilled worker than a Teamster member and we’re continuing to prove that with the success of this program.”
