Congress never even had the time to read Kline-Miller. During the house rules committee hearing a democratic congressman from Mass. suggested a 2 day extension so they had time to read the bill. But it was ignored because they would have had to delay their Christmas vacation.

Everyone knows the congress or the government doesn't care about teamster defined pensions. Worst case scenario is pensions could only be cut 90%. That's 10% less that would involve the PBGC. The PBGC has nothing to do with it. I haven't read or heard of anyone with 30 years pension credit all from the YRC family and none from orphan companies taking a cut

I suggest you do some research into the CSPF proposed cuts. I believe it's the Tier II orphans that will receive the biggest cuts. But Tier I retirees will also be cut around 50%. The Tier III UPS Teamster retirees will take the smallest, if any, cuts. Naturally UPS is objecting to it's retirees cuts because it has a contractual obligation to covers those costs. It is projected to be about $2 billion. If they are successful then Tiers I & II will have to take deeper cuts to make up for it.

I got 34 years pension credit. 27 with Roadway, 7 with Blakeslee construction and 5 with Nabisco. Blakeslee stopped contributing years ago. Blakeslee would be considered an orphan company. Nabisco had a company teamster pension. No credit there. I could take a whack on the on the 7 years with Blakeslee hypothetically

You are an orphan for the number of years you worked for an orphan company. For example Red Star

My pension is from the Teamsters not the company I worked for.. And by the way Redstar was a USF company that was bought by yellow..

The people that lost a job when Red Star went down are orphans. Your getting your full pension like I am now but if and when it's chop chop time we both take a whack. Whether you get knocked out or not depends on how many years you had with Red Star

Bean, you are wrong about Red Star Teamsters being orphans. My 27 years at Red Star are not orphan years. USF paid Local 560 it's owed withdrawal penalty. Neither are my 8 & 1/2 years from AFT in Local 478 orphan years. And so far my 6 years at ABF are all good time. So none of my 41 years are orphan time...........USF didn't make those withdrawal payments out of the goodness of it's heart. I believe USF had to pay Red Stars withdrawal in order for USF Holland to operate in Red Star's area. Oh and USF did make a smaller WARN payment to us than it should have due to a deal brokered by Hoffa & Co.

Actually Hoffa and company didn't do one thing to help with the warn act.. It was only on the last day that they jumped on the bandwagon..
