    Default DOT Ripoff Racket

    Enough nonsense is enough nonsense.
I'm gonna gripe, bitch, moan and rail against these stupid DOT,CDL,CSA.....rackets benefitting the companies, insurance racketeers, and medical racketeers. The requirements, costs, days needed off of work are a million times out of hand.
From the days needed and money needed for CDL tests and renewals, Hazmat fingerprinting and background checks and proofs of ID including birth certificates and everything else. The DOT forcing self certification ONLY with doctors hired by your company, the requirements for specialist release letters .......each and every bit up I'm completely fed up with.
Every bit of it is one racket after another forcing all responsibility on the driver. If these GD idiot Teamster officials wanna perdition for a minimum wage on anything it should be for a $60/ hr wage for all CDL drivers with a Hazmat.
Too much BS. Too many days off needed to get it all done. Too much cost. And way too many mandatory requirements....The whole F'N world uses us for cheap. And the whole world wants a million dollar lawsuit from any of our mistakes. And every greedy Lowlife SOB of an industry such as background checkers, homeland security, the DOT, DOT physical providers, insurance companies, safety course training sellers, mobile eye makers.....all want and mandatorilly get our money and time.
Wanna know what this Teamster wants Hoffa?
Representation for our trade. For our job and for our time. Every bit of this BS should be taken care of with company money on company time and appointments made and set by the company on company time. NOT MY TIME!. And not my dime....and if you don't wanna tell the company what to do or pay for which I know you don't, then at least represent us by telling your moneygrubbin Democrat leached that we aren't gonna keep paying money and time for all this required bureaucratic BS!
IF YOU CAN'T REPRESENT US GET THE HELL OUT!

I've seen one guy get terminated for having a good physical card but not self certifying with the government properly and driving without doing so.
Another delayed going from dock to driver due to company/government requirement of a physical only being legitimate if done by a company doctor.
I'm under the impression that your card is only valid if done by doctor

...which is registered by the government with your employer. If you have any issues which cause a temporary card instead of a 2 year card you must take days off of work for visits and letters from specialists and company doctors will make sure you must do all kinds of extra visits with costs and time involved. It's a racket because they know they can. I tried another job a few months back and renewed my physical with them halfway thru my physical year. Days off for their doctor. I decided not to stay at that employer and now my employer will not or cannot accept that physical card. Therefore I must now redo the physical 5 months later...and I can bet that my employers doctor will force me to take specialist tests and pay specialist copays all over again.
For 2 physicals it could take 5 paid days off.
For 1 physical it can take 3. God forbid you need to retake your CDL or Hazmat...soon we need 10 paid days to maintain our license.

I'm sick of using my earned time off to take care of this POS license. It doesn't pay enough.

I'm sick of doing logs too. F that. I have a time card and computer manifest. Take the logs and shove them too. I have work to do. Leave paperwork to paperwork people.

Glad you could get that off your chest. So Hoffa gets your vote?

You are right , slave! My employer used to send me to their approved clinic for DOT physical.
No doctor, just a fat cow PA. (physicians assistant). She would hand me two forms to take
to my personal doctor and to a cardiologist. So I get my physical from my doc (my cost), and
then another from the heart doc. (my cost).

Then back to the fat cow PA at the clinic who would stare at the forms to make sure the two
Doctors had filled them out correctly. Then with hardly a glance at me, she would sign my
    DOT card.

4 visits, missed work, total ripoff. She not only cost me time and money , she was ripping off
my employer, charging for DOT physical that my personal physician had done.
But by damn, the most important thing to the employer was getting my card was signed by their "doctor"!

Kinda off the subject but did you know that wonderful FedEx actually accesses disciplinary "points" for missed work while their drivers deal with the BS hoop jumping associated with our trade?

Not to stray too far from the subject ( whatever it is ), but I still maintain my license. I visit a doctor, that must be registered to perform DOT physicals for my cert card. He is a contractor for FedEx and visits their terminals to perform physicals.
My point being, I thought FedEx does this in all facilities.
Second, I never lost time for my physical before. Has something changed ? The company always paid for the doctor, and you went on their time.
What happened ? Is this a regional thing ?

BTW, no problems with state DMV. They have accepted his certifications each time. I need yearly for health issues.

These workers I speak of are FedEx freight employees.

My union barn pays for physicals. They pay wages to get them also. Same for random "yeah right" drug testing. The CDL license and CSA are all on my time and my dime.
