Default I love my job.. no not really lol

I was in the Operations Center, once again today. This time being disciplined for checking what time I bid tomorrow on the board in the hallway to the break room. I was not sure of the date or time and wanted to check to ensure I did not miss my time. The supervisor saw that I was looking at the board then questioned me about it when I returned to work. It took 2 minutes but wanted to harass me about it then write me up for not working during work hours. I was called in the Operations Center where my employee file laid on the Operations Manager's desk. I asked for Union Representation and when they arrived. He proceeded to tell me I was a "Problem" and that I had been wrote up 6 times in less than 6 months. All of them are BS and are being grieved, two are even for the same offense but two different charges. But today, I was being disciplined for being in the hallway for 2 minutes. He proceeded to tell me that I needed this job because I have a 6 month old baby and wife at home. He lectured me on how I wouldn't want to loose my job before Christmas. He added that I am loyal to the Union and often brag that the union is much better than the company. I was told numerous times I was a "Problem" and most supervisors prefer not to deal with me or are tired of dealing with me. He decided to throw out the discipline because he knew it did not hold enough weight for a suspension so he let me return to work.

I am not a bad employee, I come to work do my job and go home. I don't do anything anyone else doesn't do but am being targeted over and over again.

At what time is it ok for management to lecture me on my family life or reference my family in any way??

Management usually doesn't want to deal with and educated employee, cause they know they can't lie their way into some BS, and expect you to take it. So consider that a compliment that they don't want to deal with you.
As for the threats to your family and job and Christmas, that's where I would have elevated the conversation, and let it be known that this type of threatening behavior has nothing to do with the situation at hand, and his opinion is not welcome, when it pertains to anything outside the building.

Boy, talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place. Nobody should have to deal with this kind of crap.

I would have to agree with u Pullin3 and L&P Charlie. They hate anyone that stands up for themselves. I'm not the type of person that "lays down and takes it". I just listened and smirked the entire time during the meeting today. I have learned to let them talk and see what they are going to do before plotting my move. I felt a little victorious knowing that I won and walked away with nothing but we all knew it was BS.

I always keep my mouth shut when being disciplined and has union representation present in the meeting (as a witness/to help in my defense). I never give any extra information that would help them with their case against me. I try to resolve it with them by explaining my side but I have learned if they have factual evidence (photos, documentation, etc.) I only tell them what they already know. I never admit any wrong doing!! I let them do whatever they want to do with disciplining me and then file a grievance on it. In my grievance I state why I am filing, and what resolution I'm seeking and at the hearing I'm prepared with my own evidence and defense. I never like to be in trouble but it goes to show you that even when you try to do your job they still want to put a target on you. I have been fired twice from my current employer and won countless grievances against them.

In my opinion, it may be time for plan B brother. Make sure you have a back up job to fall on. If they really want you, they can get you.
Often with a little seeking, you can find something better than you have.

You can never find the right job, if your stuck in the wrong one.
Just my 2 cents...

Great advice. I do a construction side job (property management and light demolition) right now on my days off. I have learned not to keep all my eggs in one basket from past instances. I work for myself and try not to take on anything more than I can handle. I have several years of experience in construction prior to starting my current job but at the time it's nice to have a union job with health benefits.
