Fifth Week of UPS Negotiations Highlights Excessive Overtime, Harassment, CDL Requirements
The Teamsters National UPS Freight Negotiating Committee made strides in securing stronger language for members during this week’s negotiations.

The union has tentatively agreed to a true training program that will encourage bargaining unit employees to obtain their CDL in order to fulfill full-time CDL positions. The qualifications to achieve these full-time driving positions have been streamlined as well, by reducing the time requirements.

The next round of negotiations is scheduled for the week of April 8.

UPS Contract Negotiations Update, April 13, 2018

The Teamsters National UPS Freight Negotiating Committee also made headway this week in a number of areas. Tentative agreements were reached on Article 13, Compensation Claims, Article 15, Equipment and Safety, Article 23, Time Clocks and Timesheets, and Article 24, Leave of Absence.

These agreements include improvements or additions related to employees who are permanently disabled, identifying a serious accident, creating technology change protection language, and instituting jury duty and funeral leave for long-term casuals. The committee also added maternity and paternity leave and a rehabilitation program into the agreed upon language.

The next round of negotiations is scheduled for the week of April 22.

UPS, UPS Freight Members Authorize Strikes, If Necessary
UPS and UPS Freight Teamsters have approved giving their respective negotiating committees the right to call a strike, if necessary.

The UPS members authorized a strike, if necessary, by a 93 percent margin. At UPS Freight, the margin was 91 percent.

The vote was conducted by electronic secret ballot and the tally was released tonight.

“This vote by our UPS and UPS Freight members gives the negotiating committees bargaining leverage this week and during subsequent negotiations for the national contract and the supplements,” said Denis Taylor, Director of the Teamsters Package Division and Co-Chairman of the Teamsters National UPS Negotiating Committee. “It is very helpful to have the members’ backing as we work toward negotiating strong contracts at UPS and UPS Freight.”

The last UPS strike was successful because the Teamsters were able to inspire workers in the supply chain to initiate slowdowns, which put additional pressure on UPS to capitulate...That was a long time ago however, and professional capitalist rats have had time to study where and how they miscalculated and failed...I do not see the same camaraderie among union members that benefited the Teamsters last time out.

Plus the fact, with the IBT Ready,Willing, and Eager to ''SELL OUT'' their own Members,I'd say the Workers need to take this into their own hands...HOFFA BE DAMNED!!!!

What's interesting though, with Trump's hatred for Jeff Bezos at Amazon a GIVEN,he might actually work in favor of the Teamsters just to spite Bezos and derail or slow his plans for a rival delivery service...Just a Thought...

For all you that wished that UPS would buy you, having over 90% of Freight and Parcel vote to strike tells you what kind of place we work at and remember we haven't even seen the contract yet (Kept in the dark, thanks Hoffa) I have 4 1/2 years to go don't know if I will make it, the only reason to stay is the pension and three weeks vacation....worst LTL I have ever worked for....they have no clue what they are doing IMO......

That says a lot about today's management and the skills they ( don't ) process.
Watched the same thing at New Penn. Arrogance, combined with bad attitude towards labor changed a great company to just another sh** hole place to work.

Don't let them take anything from you. Stick out these next 4 years. Keep telling yourself ... "I'll make it, just to pizz them off" !
