Nice article on whats going on forget impeaching Trump we should impeach Hoffa and Company IMO.....If they (Hoffa and Co) impose this contract on Parcel the Teamster Union is done....Jr. would have killed what his father has once built....an great Union!

    Some quote from the article...

"The Hoffa administration and UPS have barraged members with multiple national mailings urging a yes vote on the deal—in all, at least a million pieces of mail.

“It was like getting hit with a baseball bat every time I opened up my mailbox,” said Turns. “I can’t believe how much money we wasted on that campaign. If the contract they want us to vote yes on is so great, then why are they having to sell it that hard?”

Yes what a waste of are dues.....which paid for this.

"Among the mailings were postcards warning that a no vote would mean “the risk of a work stoppage without further review by the members.” The possibility that a no vote would be overridden, however, was never mentioned.'

Felt this language was a threat to us if we vote no IMO most of us want it to go back to the table......I myself would be willing to give them up to a year (next July) to work this out before we even think of a strike...

The only way to influence, change leadership and make your voice known is to participate in the union business while attending meetings.
The union, like government politicians are supposed to be for and by the people, or members.

Easier said than done IMO......tried to at are local and we tried to at the National level....vote Hoffa out....didn't happen.

And why does Walleye feel that way......reason number one if this is true ..........

Teamsters Union Approves UPS Labor Contract?Despite 54% 'No' Vote

"United Parcel Service Inc.’s union ratified a five-year labor agreement for employees — even though a majority of members who voted turned it down.

The 54 percent “no” vote wasn’t enough to block the deal under union rules because less than half the membership turned out to cast ballots, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters said Friday night. With such low participation, two-thirds of workers would have had to oppose the deal for the rejection to be valid.

The lukewarm approval could ratchet up tensions between factions within the Teamsters. It could stoke labor turmoil for UPS as it tries to lower the cost of home deliveries and cash in on booming e-commerce. UPS faces competition from nonunion rivals, including FedEx Corp. and Amazon.com Inc., which is starting its own delivery service."

Probably now every UPS driver who voted no and works in a "Right to Work State" will probably withdrawn now.....sometimes I wonder if Jr. blames the teamster for the death of his father and is trying to ruin the Teamsters Union cause IMO he sure is doing a good job of that.

This also leave us (UPS Freight to stand alone) if we strike......but can someone tell me if this is true. That if we go on strike and say send half are strikers over to Parcels barn (West Springfield) and picket them there, that they can not cross are line.....this will get interesting remember we are in Sean O'Brien region (New England) joint counsel 10.......and he is no longer in bed with Hoffa.

Take a look at the number of ballots returned. That speaks volumes.

Yes, I see that, but those who have voted said "NO" you didn't vote too bad, back to the table.....imagine if are elections for the office of President of the United States were to be run like this.....that if two-thirds of the people don't vote they will put into office who ever they feel.....and it's a shame these people don't vote......but I will tell you this if they force this contract on them, companies will use this against anyone trying to organize throw it in their face sort of, tell them the Union only cares about collecting your dues and could care less about you, more fuel for there fire IMO and I should know I have been in a organizing drive before .......IMO honor those who have voted....do not force this contract upon them!

No argument there. It's just pathetic to see so few care about the future. Nothing will change until WE change it.

I think we've been over this,..

The monthly meetings are approx 3 hours from me, I won't take a day off for that.

They do have a monthly "informational" meeting an hour away,..But all they do there is tell people what
    happened at the monthly,...

I do make my opinion know to my ba,....We have a polite, mutual, go f' yourself conversation
every now and again,........I don't think he likes someone with a differing opinion,.....

Yes, we have discussed this before.
All I can say is, if it's important enough that you want change, then you'll need to participate and become active in the unions business.
The change the members want will only happen if you communicate that with others, both at the hall and at work.

We all can understand about differing opinions.
We witness that here, and in our everyday lives constantly.
