Default Roadway (YRC) Change Of Operations 11-10-2008

Today out west in California is a change of operations hearing that involves many including the barn that I am at. When I get any news I will post it here.

i was wondering where can you find info on COO. I know on the east they got to have some plans so i would like to see them. its not like anyone is over here volunteering there plans to us. any help would be appreciated. it just seems like lately that our BA and steward are just bending for these management *****. we are getting tired of hearing "you can't tell the company how to run there business." and heres another good one we hear from our Reps "It is what it is." you guys hear anything like that ?

You might be getting tired of hearing it but it is a fact. You can not tell the company how to run it's business. Why get pissed at your reps for telling you the truth?

I seriously doubt you could ever find a COO posted anywhere on the internet before it is ever heard at a meeting. Not likely that any company would ever be so nice as to inform their labor force before meeting with leaders to iron out all the numbers. Besides they enjoy hearing the members rip the union leadership over things that they can do nothing about.

I've been telling members, for far too long on here, that the Union can not tell the employer how to operate it's business. Maybe the Union needs to do more to educate the members in this area.

I was told today by my Steward that the only thing about the barn that I work at that will be discussed in the meeting today is they are talking about the active and inactive with roadway and yellow on the same property here. I assume that is talking about the people in layoff right now when we come together under one roof.

What I am hearing more an more is all this merger is going to change on a daily basis and look at what was just changed and might change it again. So much will be changing and changing from now until they are done. Heck our TM has weekly meetings with us about numbers ect... and he has told us each week hell I don't even know. I just do what they say when it comes down the pipe. We all are going to be in the dark for many days since this is such a big thing going on and changing on a daily basis.

I personally believe that the IBT has given YRC, INC all the room they need to keep the ship from sinking and I am glad they have done that.

I really doubt that we will have the 34 hour reset. That was agreed to in May or so of 2004 and the companies didn't push to have it in the current NMFA....so Roadway told you right. The rule would eliminate more Teamster jobs so it's not a good rule for us.
