Subject: Keeping you and our customers informed about integration success

    To: All YRC Worldwide employees

Within YRC Worldwide, we know that we’re moving forward and seeing positive results as we integrate our Yellow and Roadway networks. I appreciate the efforts of those working directly on integration activities, and I appreciate the ongoing focus of all YRC Worldwide employees on meeting the needs of our customers today as we build for our future.

There have been competitive attacks aimed at YRCW and our integration, and we’re taking aggressive steps to ensure that customers know the truth. Next week, we’ll issue a news release outlining the status of our integration success so far. We’ll also announce an expanded communications program to provide customers with regular updates about our work to improve operations and solidify our financial position.

In advance of our customer communications, I want you to have information on why our integration is succeeding, and why it differs from previous industry attempts.

We’ve seen what happens when companies try to immediately combine networks and technology. They jump too quickly to the end state and encounter strong union resistance. Their integration efforts fail.

We’re taking a far different approach. YRC Worldwide is continuing the strategic, phased-in plan we started when Roadway joined the YRCW family in 2003. We have:

Combined back-offices, exchanging technology and best practices
    Created a common management team
    Combined the corporate sales team
Phased-in the integration of operations and local sales teams
Negotiated key labor flexibilities and aligned national networks
Obtained Teamsters collaboration and customer support

As evidence of that customer support, Larry Faitz, the International Transportation and Customs Manager at Hallmark Cards, Inc., recently told us:

“Hallmark has enjoyed a good strong relationship with both Yellow and Roadway, over the course of 20 years. We see a lot of benefit by combining the two networks. The accountability of a combined sales force, greater economies of scale, and more efficient, fuller trucks create benefits that can be passed along to us to effectively manage our supply chain.

“Having worked with the combined, corporate sales team representing both companies, I can say that it is the right move, and it makes sense.”

It does make sense. And, it’s working. Now, it’s up to each of us to communicate that in our daily business interactions. Let’s make sure customers, investors – and the competition – understand that YRC Worldwide intends to effectively execute our integration plan and remain the industry leader.

This notice was probably prompted by Fedex's claim that the integration was actually a precursor to Yellow and Roadway biting the bullet. Fedex is aggresively going after our freight and now the DHL small packages, by touting Fedex will be here when you need us, why not get on board now? They have been spreading the word at our customers. I was even reading at the "Darkside" how a fedex P&D guy was following a Roadway driver all day, even though he had no work at the Roadway stops, just trying to find out who our customers are. Look at their website, they already have links set up to divert DHL pakages. This basically stinks as far as a business practice goes. To play on the fears of customers with no basis in fact, simply because they don't have the reputation to get the freight on their own merits.

PASS THE WORD AROUND TO ALL OUR CUSTOMERS.
YELLOW/ROADWAY INTENDS TO BE HERE FOR THE LONG HAUL,
.....NO PUN INTENDED. AND NOT TO BUY INTO THE HYPE THAT OUR COMPETITION IS SPREADING. LET THEM KNOW THEY ARE ONLY DOING THIS TO STEAL OUR EXISTING CUSTOMER BASE!!!!!

You know, Fedex management is just as corrupt as AIG management. They have no class whatsoever. Seriously, this goes beyond trying to persuade a customer with true facts and good service. This kind of behavior is pathetic.

If this were the old west, Marshall Dillon of Dodge City would take these guys out back and put a whoppin' stick to their backside.

Fedex has gone to far this time. The whole world economic system is collapsing financially, and Fedex is standing there with a gun and trying to finish off the crippled man as he is gasping for his last breath.

I really pray that as Yellow/Roadway employees, we do our jobs right, so we can come back and kick their big fat butt!!!

I was expecting a story of sorts, something like this maybe.

    From the Office of Bill Zollars;

After an excruciating day at the office Bill Zollars looks out his hi-rise suite in Overland Park Kansas and ponders do I purchase another trucking company today and if so how long will I let them prosper before sucking the life out this company the way, only the "coporate grim reaper" can do. But Billy as he is known to his Grandmother by, decides neither and ask his secretary June to come in and give him a pedicure as he light's a fine Cuban cigar. Yes Billy has had a hard week and as this Friday was drawing to a close of yet another hard week dealt with by a hard man Billy (dollar) Bill Zollars, sighed in awe from relief as June scraped the toe jam out from between his toes.

My God you make it sound like dollar bill lives the life of leisure???? You have no idea that the life and times of all the yellow and roadway drivers are on his shoulders? One wrong move and all those drivers could be in jeopardy. He is stressed out! And "stressed" spelled backwards is "desserts". So he needs his little breaks during the day, while he mulls over your future. But rest assured he is ALWAYS looking out for you best interests. After all, that's what a ceo does best. Have a llittle faith. Dollar Bill is there to help you, not hurt you?

Sweet, people as cynical as me. I was starting to lose my animosity, but I am filled with a new found hatred that once boiled over.
    Thank you SN and TT
