    Default Vote YES

Vote yes on the wage reduction and keep a job. Vote no and you are killing yourself and family.

Tell your kids, I am a Teamster with big balls and voted no, so lets go to the soup line for supper. And walk down the road with your legs spread wide with them big ball between them.

I am a Teamster with balls and I am voting YES

That's just not sound logic, there is no doubt, YRC has a plan B...

But cave in at the first sign of trouble, and you will never get to see it !!!

Plan B??? What if there is no plan B??? Do you know for a fact of such a plan? Are you willing to take that chance?

YRC & the Teamsters are doing this now before Bankruptcy proceedings....This is the first time a pay reduction has been asked by any company before they were in Bankruptcy. This is our best shot at survival. Look around Load & Park Charlie these are not good times for any trucking company.

Ive been through two companies that have closed the doors & this is no joke! I would like to retire & get my pension...I'm sure you would like the same.

Why take the chance to see plan "B" ?? I'll tell you why because plan "A" sucks!

You are right these are not good times for anyone.

I just refuse to be taken advantage of with no Gaurantee of surving the Merger and being able to work. I'll probably be a statistic and loose my job due to manpower cuts.

Go back to the table and negotiate a more amiciable Concession agreement, I'm just not in the Giving Spirit with alot of my brothers and sisters laid off every Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years so Yellow can save on paying those hard working men "Holiday" pay.

When Yellow shows compassion and treats their workforce like Human Beings then I'll show the same .
    Untill then

    BAH HUMBUG!!

Everyone is under the impression, that this whole bad economy thing is something that happened clearly out of the blue. I hate to tell you, but this whole economy thing has been engineered to occur. The CEO's that are running these companies, have worked very hard to make sure that this perfect storm has developed.

And while voting yes, and allowing this hostile attack on wages , might delay a closing, there is no guarantee it will prevent it. At any given time in the near or far future, they can roll out the same line of crap, and demand another course of bend over boys.

And don't tell me that the IBT, has done their best to protect us all from failure. They have done a piss poor job in every division these past years.
Record concessions, poor organizing of our real nonunion competition, Massive allowance for companies to pull out of the pension fund, and newly organized labor with substandard contract terms.

For the life of me, I can't understand why members keep insisting that we are better off now, than just a few years ago. Had the IBT, done a better job during the boom years, these propossed cuts would not stand to hurt us so much.

There is simply no argument, that supports the deal, that the laborforce should bare the brunt of these restructuring attempts. And if the members, and the Union keep allowing these actions to occur, you wont have to worry about your pension anyway. Healthcare and pension contributions will be the next recipient of corporate greed.

With the way so many members want to cave in over these issues, All Teamsters will suffer. Stand up for what is right, Seems to me, like in times of war, too many men want to stay in the rear with the gear, nobody wants to be on point.

Everyone can vote the way they want, even if they are proclaiming a no vote here on the forum. When the ballot is in their hands, thats when the real courage will be tested. It's not whether you win or loose, it's how you play the game... Good luck men.

I don't understand the logic behind a lot of the negativity. Forget who we are dealing with for a moment and just open your eyes and look at what is happening all around us. And before I go any further, let me just add, I know this sucks.

    But here's the picture.....
    Lehman Bros...........gone
    IndyMac Bank.........gone
    Fannie Mae &
    Freddie Mac...........gov controlled
    AIG.......................bailout
    Citibank.................bailout (just last week)
    Big 3 Auto..............seeking bailout
    Office Depot...........bankrupt
    Circuit City.............bankrupt
Kay Bee toys..........bankrupt (chapter 11 to chapter 7 this week)
    Linens n Things ......gone
    Sony.....................laying off 8000 to save $1.1 billion
    Dupont..................laid off 6000

    Closer to home......
    Alvan Trucking........gone
    Jevic Trans.............gone
    Conway.................40 terminals closed, 1400 terminated
All the stock values of all publicly traded trucking companies are down at least 50% from last year, YRC a bit more than the others. Most of their credit ratings are negative but stable, with the exceptions of YRC and Conway. Those ratings are slightly worse.

Now what we have that the others didn't have, was a choice in the matter. Even though it's not much of a choice, the point is we shouldn't let them use us as a tool to expedite our demise. That is the probable outcome of a "NO" vote. There is no plan "B". Plan "B" is shutting the operations down. I know the next argument will be that no one that gave back is around anymore. The truth is, there are a handful of companies that gave back in the past and are still operating today. Preston lasted 5 years and enabled some of their employees to pay off mortgages, send kids through college, earn enough time to retire. The thing to consider about other failed companies is that they closed in better economic times than we are in right now. There is also no guarantee whether this will work or for how long, but with economic forecasts the way they are, this economy will probably get a lot worse, before it gets any better. With 4.4 million Americans out of work, and more places closing on almost a daily basis, where will all of us go if YRC shuts down? And what will happen to the pensions of all past and present retirees? Notice I don't include future because there will be nothing left for anyone. Many others will go bankrupt as a result of a trickle down, because they won't be able to afford the pension liabilities. All signatories to Teamster pensions will disappear, not just trucking. The nonunions will immediately cut pay, health, and benefits because they won't have to maintain the standards we set forth because we will be gone. Even other industries will follow this example as a way to cut expenses and stay viable. This is a vote for survival of past, present, and hopefully future Teamsters and the working class in general.

Then the yes vote should trigger a temporary cut, not for the life of the contract. I t needs to be changed. Hell it needed to include protections before it was endorsed for a vote in the first place.

But the IBT dropped the ball big time on that one didn't they?
Vote the way you want, it's your future. I HOPE THINGS WORK OUT FOR THE BEST FOR ALL YOU FREIGHT GUYS AND GALS.

So Charlie the way I read your response we all should just take a bullet to the head & put us out of our misery? If this is what you call courage I'll pass! Believe me when I tell you...I am no fan of upper management @ YRC...I was laid off from the week before Thanksgiving '07 till May of '08.

It doesn't matter how we got here...we need to survive this. The stock holders WILL close YRC if this does not go through! Ok so...we vote yes & YRC lasts another year or so(I pray they survive for years to come)....hopefully by then the economy will be better & finding a new job wont be as hard. But for now....$20.44 an hour & all our bene's paid is still not a bad living. Look at it this way...you can work 3 hrs a week in overtime to make up for the 10%.

Close YRC & start all over @ 75% if your lucky to get another union job!

And a reminder to you...the Teamsters arranged for the 10% YRC did not...they asked for relief! The Teamsters own book keepers acknowlege the demise of YRC if something is not done now.

Wake up man.....this is NOT a conspiracy! I hope for you & all of us we can survive this and keep food on our tables for years to come!
