steelhead, I don't view it that way. In my opinion, 77% or the YRC Teamsters were smart enough to realize just what's going on not only in our company but with our country too.

If you consider taking a 10% cut while maintaining 100% company paid benefits and pension while this country is experiencing our worst economy in over 80 years bending over so be it.

I hate concessions just as much as the next guy but we're in extraordinary times right now and I view this as a necessary evil. Ask any Fedex guy how he feels about having his 401K matches taken away or an Old Dominion guy how he feels about working 4-5 hours and being sent home and I'm sure they'll tell you they would still rather have what we've got than what they get.

There always will be negative B.S. I'm an optimist. I like to think about what I have instead of what I'm not getting. Am I upset about a 10% reduction in pay? Your damn right I am. Any pay cut sucks but they did not touch the benefits part of it and that part I'm very happy about plus I still have a job and can provide my family with insurance. Life is not perfect. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow. If anyone doesn't like the cut that bad then my suggestion is go out and look for a new gig. The selection may be a little small in today's economy.

hay all, found this site a few days ago, havent said anything yet except to intro my self. nice site, ive seen quite a wide diff in views here, which is a good thing. now to say my peice. first off, its not 10% were giving up, with the rate of inflation, its more like 15%+ just for this year. i came over to yellow freight from overnite in 99. i looked up the rate of inflation and in the past 10 years it has went up almost 25%. i also calucated our pay raises over the same time and i came up with just over 10%. not that this matters now, but we were behind inflation 15% before, and now we are 25% behind. bill and the boys, all the way down to the tm's can still get there bounises. management gets to factor in there retirement into there 10% and we cant. our pention(central states) lost 8.9 billion last i checked, and it went from 2% to 1% a while back, any way ya want to figure thats half. but yet we dont get to factor this in? if bill gets his head outa his a.. and turnes this boat around, we are still locked in this for 4 years.

since our international proposed this to us, ive looked back over the time ive been in this union, and im trying to see what hoffa and the boys have done for us, and guys i aint seein anything good here. the first contract i voted on was when we were doin good, record proffets, and we got less then inflation raises? the second contract was the same story. then they let ups buy out of central states. let yellow buy roadway, then usf. and now this. im chucklin to my self right now, tryin to keep my spirets up. i hope hoffa dosent help us any more for a while, i cant aford it!

ive heard nothing but bad about the tdu since i first got involved with the ibt, but i gotta tell ya all, ive been checking them out for the past few weeks, and i joined the outher day. if theres like minded guys on here, i suggest ya check them out for your self.

anyways, thank you all for lettin me rant, little d

ps. jah-bone, what you said is almost to the word exactly what my old tm use to say.......... just sayin
