Default Seniority List is up in Richmond, Va

Well, it looks pretty grim for a bunch of Teamsters in Local 592....The seniority list went up Thursday Feb. 5th. After combining the two boards which will take effect on March 1st there are 59 city men. "YRC" will only keep 38 on the list....21 will go on lay-off status! They posted 14 follow your work bids CNC, HSB & COL (without posting the go to seniority list to see where you are in seniority) and we only have till Monday Feb. 9th to bid.

It erks me that we had 35 men on our list alone (Yellow) & YRC is only using 38???? So 3 more men to do the work of 21???? Thats a lay-off of more than 1 third of the work force....I do not forsee more than two men taking the move.

Zollars was quoted that there will be 1000 lay-offs after the merger....if you look at the trend in Richmond it would be alot more than that.

If I sound bitter....well I am....15 years in the Teamsters (and there are guys w/ more years than me) and losing our jobs. I know I will survive this.....but this B.S. is getting old! Best of Luck to all of us & lets hope YRC survives this so at least we can get something out of our pensions!

Oh and a word of advice to all going on lay-off.....BURN your sick time....I have two days left to burn....I'm kinda enjoying the 3 day weekends!!!

    21 days and counting......

Typically on a merge, 20% of the workforce can easily be dumped. It's obvious they're stretching the limits with one third.
Months ago when they threw out the number of 3,750, we all knew that was a ridiculously low figure.
I pray for the success of this merge, so the evil Yellow empire that started all this destruction, doesn't drag down the highly successful Reddaway, that carries with it 40% of the West coast marketshare.

Rudog.....Yes we are being offered a move (read first post again)....but would you move & pick up your whole family?? I have young kids & the wife has a good job....not to mention a 1 year old home we built.....I don't think it would be in my best interest to "follow the work"....especially with a company that does COO's at the blink of an eye.....I've seen guys move here just months ago & are now screwed.....including management.

Rudog...I wasn't being a smartass.....Just curious are you? I was just stating my situation.....& I would not trust YRC on any move. Your response offends me & I'm sure others too.....I would think before I wrote.

I do understand what you are saying. At 671 the yellow and roadway city list is 76 and they are only going to keep 35 + 20%.......

The engineers came up with these numbers nation wide and the amount they are keeping did not take into account any person now working on a given day. Such as vacation, sick day and many other reasons for someone to take off work. I was told, and I hope it is true that at each location they are actually going to keep the number the engineers came up with plus 20%. So they can make up with the short fall number the engineers came up with.
