Default Local 71 President in Charlotte, NC is doing something that is not cool at all.

Yellow/Roadway (YRC) office Teamsters at 671 that are going to the Yellow/Roadway (YRC) in Charlotte, NC in this COO are being end tailed. There is a lady at Yellow that has 31 years and is going behind a 4 month Teamster in Charlotte. Many others from 671 are senior to most all of the office Teamsters at Yellow in Charlotte, NC are being end tailed.

Why?
The office at both barns has a white paper contract that does not address anything about merger, seniority when a merger happens etc.

The President of Local 71 is using his office to make this injustice happen. More than likely he can't be stopped.

This whole COO is being dovetailed and I am a Roadway guy that thinks this is the only fair way to put us Yellow and Roadway guys together.

Local 71 President's chain has been yanked already last week. He was trying to make the road drivers that came to Charlotte on the COO to come into there in layoff status because there were senior men already domiciled in Charlotte on layoff.

First of all YRC is just merging the boards and all the employees have been YRC employees for at least five years so he can not end tail employees from the same company. And since Yellow is the original buyer how could their people go to the bottom? He is just seeing what he can get away with if this is true. If the people involved hire a lawyer lets see just how much this guy is willing to spend before his members get tired of him wasting their money. What's right is right. Are we to be no better than the heartless companies? YOUR BROTHER ALWAYS.

That is what I was wondering..... why is he able to put these people through the expense of hiring a lawyer (who will feed them BS because he is getting paid to fight this and will tell them what they want to hear, even if he knows he can't win it), and this president isn't using his own money to fight back, he probably has several lawyer friends on the payroll/retainer. So who comes out the loser even if they win?

In the COO decision clerical got royally screwed. There is a clause in there that if you merge two work forces and one of them is non union and the work forces are the same size then the union workers will become endtailed behind the non union clerical workers. This is happening in Buffalo where Yellow clerical was union and Roadway was non union. The Roadway clerical is coming to the Yellow facility and they are going to the top of their list. One Yellow girl has nearly 30 years and is being shoved to the back of the line, her monthly dues got her some top notch representation there.

what a bummer, having to deal with the management of the buffalo terminal, their is a lot of a$$holes that work their. roadway was the first big company i worked for. the treatment of people was unbelievable to me. well their was a 50 /50 mix of humans to drones to stupidly. oh well i wish the remaining teamsters luck having to deal with roadway's finest management .

i work at yellow in k-ville and i think she had more than 31 yrs - more like 34 but at this point who really cares - obviously years of service mean nothing - if i hear the works white paper contract one more time i'm going to lose it - the 4 people from roadway that transferred have put money down on a rental house so how do you think they feel at least the lady i work with lives close to charlotte and she can retire if all else fails
my term mgr said that in wpcs - see above - each local protects their own so that expains the end rather than dove tailing
my question would be this - how come no one bothered to tell these people this - since there are so few people involved i guess we just didn't matter
i'm so glad i give them money every month to be taken care of - i'd hate to think how much worse off these people would have been if they hadn't had the wonderful union to look out for them
but on a brighter note i rose 4 places because they left - somehow it really doesn't seem worth it - i think the dinosaur is leaning a little more every day
