    Default YRC History

Sharing a Proud and Colorful History
YRC traces its origins to 1924, when A.J. Harrell, an Oklahoma City entrepreneur, founded a bus and taxi service that he named Yellow Cab Transit Co. He shortened the name to Yellow Transit Co. in 1926.

Back in those early days, Harrell hired chemists at E.I. DuPontTM to determine the safest color on the road. Their research led to Swamp Holly Orange, the natural color of berries on the Swamp Holly shrub. When he was told Swamp Holly Orange was the color most visible from the greatest distance, Harrell didn't miss a beat. "All right," he said. "Then that's the color for Yellow."

Teamster, please don't trick me into navigating to company propaganda.
What the vast majority of people don't know is that Roadway was 7 1/2 signatures out of 8 needed from being sold to CF back in those days. One of the Roush brothers "just couldn't bring himself to selling the company."

Talking How many shades of orange are there?

Yellow is so proud of their color (swamp holly orange). Do you know how many different shades of orange shirts I have? Its not just the fading either. How about the trucks? There must be 8 different shades of orange in the parking lot. The brand new dot stickers that have Roadways number is even yet another shade of orange. It really is a joke out there.

In 2009, we took the next logical step in our successful transformation. YRC Inc. integrates the power and pride of both companies. Together, we are better than ever. Working with the other companies of YRC Worldwide, YRC provides customers the most flexible and comprehensive portfolio of supply-chain solutions in the world. Although YRC inc. is led by a pompus moron by the name "Wild Billy Zollars, we expect things to happen here for both companies. These things may not be all good but things none-the-less
