"We are forming this committee to review the contract in efforts to help YRCW survive this recession and hopefully come out stronger than ever," Jim Hoffa, Teamsters general president, said in a statement.

I think another 5-7% will be a tough sell at this point. YRC had their chance the first time around and told us all that 10% would be enough. Who's gonna believe them the second time around?

I am glad you said it was a rumor, because that is just what it is, a rumor. A pay cut again is not in the picture on there side.

The 10% was enough, they had plans already to do all the other things to cut cost. I think when they said the 10% is enough, they were telling the truth. They had plans to cut cost in other ways. I did not see them say the 10% is all we are going to do to try to get this Company to survive. If they did then the 10% would not be enough, but they did not say that.

Hoffa's new solution is to CHANGE the current new NMFA language. With this new contract language change, we are allowing YRC to subsitute real estate liens in place of monthly monetary employer paid pension payments, to ALL PENSION FUNDS. These contract changes must be voted on by ALL OF US, the rank & file..give backs cause serious attitude probs It can't be another pay cut..this rumor makes sense as far as survival but I am sure everyone wont vote for it and it doesnt say for how long on the deferrals..if this is what it's all about the funds own the land if YRC goes down

Putting (land that they can not sell) up for collateral is equivalent to giving us one of those ragging 2 million mile trucks for a month's worth of compensation.

That's not really a fair comparison. The truck is worth nearly nothing now and will depreciate to nothing shortly. Land, regardless of its current value, is an asset that will appreciate eventually.
