    Default YRC “Economic Relief Plan”

July 14, 2009: The tentative deal with YRC contains an additional 5% wage cut, a reduction in H&W contributions, and an 18-month pension contribution termination period, as well as union proposals.

The details of the plan will be available later today. Click here to read the IBT’s two-page summary of the agreement.

If approved in a membership vote, the additional pay cut (approximately $1.16 per hour) will go into effect immediately after ratification; the pension termination period will begin July 1 and end December 31, 2010; the contractual health and welfare contribution increase due on August 1 will be reduced to 20˘ per hour.

The temporary pension termination is the biggest item, a cut of $7.60 per hour in pension contributions for the first year of the 18 months, and $8.20 for the latter part of 2010.

The union gained an appointee to the board of directors, a corporate turnaround expert in place at YRC, and the ability for members to obtain more stock options.

Additionally, some of the job protections advocated by TDU were added to the tentative agreement: extending recall rights to 10 years; return of office work from India; “card check” rights to organize all units at all terminals; some form of “snap back” clauses; and some limit on work subcontracted out through YRC Logistics. The details remain to be seen regarding all of these provisions.

More detailed information will be available soon.

Wow, that is going to be a tough pill to swallow. But if there is a chance that it will cure the illness then I guess they will have to at least give it a try.

voting yes will just delay the inevitable VOTE NO otherwise theyll be back for more , probably in the 4th quarter or so , what a joke this has been.VOTE NO. im curious to see if hoffa and boys demanded management cuts as well, EQUAL SACRIFICE.VOTE NO.one of the problems with management is that they dont fire anyone they just create another job for them or reassign them. plain stupid and wasteful....VOTE NO.i also think hoffa should LOWER OUR DUES DUE TO THIS MESS AS WELL.......just a thought... have a nice day and keep your chin up...VOTE NO

They gave you an out if you do not agree with it. You can take an 18 month vacation and come back with your seniority. You can let someone who is willing to do your dirty work for you work. If the vote was 100% yes it would be enough to win the war with the nonunion companies. What do you have to loose? Your Job? How about honor?

i agree. i thought they were going for more. but this is a pretty good hit.

recall rights for 10 years? a plus for layoff is good

have to sit down and run through the math and there must be some fine print in there somewhere that screws us. (what else is in there that we are not seeing so far)

i just don't trust these people. but have to consider the alternative.

good luck to all our brothers on this one and to even our teamster brothers from other companies because it affects us all.

You can say it look good, but wake up....they are not asking for 5% more of what you are making now they are asking for 5% more of what you should be making.......not to mention 18 months with nothing in your pension fund??? The last time they asked us for these cuts we were told it was to save jobs, ask any one of the brothers and sisters who lost their jobs how that helped?? And oh wait........with all they have laid off what about all those savings the hourly pay that the company is keeping 100%.....and not to mention the pension, health and welfare they are not paying.....for all those who are now unemplyeed that we took the cut so they don't lose thier jobs where is all that money?? Nothing in thier say's one word about the company will NOT close any more terminals....and lay off more....enough is enough........you give them this and they will be back in 6 months again asking for more......its time to just say no. They know we are all scared about losing our jobs, and they are using that to take away what we have worked hard to get. ITS TIME TO JUST SAY NO.

You guys are crazy if you vote that in. Your pay and benefits will be lower than that of the nons and it will never come back. What makes you think yrc, if they survive will snap back wages and pension payments when "profitable again"? Out of the kindness of their hearts? They've already violated the current agreement on pension payments. It's amusing to me that Hoffa and Johnson never at all mention the bad management and all the bad buying spree decisions of Zollars and crew, and how these concessions are helping them pay for it out of your pockets, they just repeat the same mantra, "worst freight recession in generations". Thats as bad as the line they always throw out when something happens, i.e. redstar, yellow buying roadway and usf and countless others, "we'll continue to monitor the situation". Comforting. For those of you that say you'll vote yes just to stay a teamster? Well I guess the IBT leadership has you right where they want you! You've already given them hundreds of millions in savings and the economy is on the verge of turning. Enough!
