Wall Street glance: Who will win if YRC fails?
    The Associated Press

    8/19/2009

NEW YORK — An RBC analyst said Tuesday less-than-truckload carriers have a tough road ahead, and that road is likely even worse for the biggest company in the sector.

Less-than-truckload are carriers that take freight from a variety of sources, sort and redistribute it at terminals along their route. Truckload carriers take freight directly from one shipper to a receiver..............

“We were somewhat surprised that shippers do not expect, on average, a larger rise in LTL rates immediately following a potential YRC Worldwide shutdown,” the Wolfe report said. “However, respondents indicated that longer term, a YRC Worldwide shutdown ultimately would be favorable for the surviving LTL providers and allow for more substantial rate increases from current levels as demand eventually firms and the LTL providers regain pricing confidence.”
I keep saying the customers don't understand how this will affect their shipping rates.

The only thing I can think of that you could say someone would win is the competition. One less LTL giant do deal with in the marketplace.

Nobody wins...... The folks who work at YRC definately do not win.....The guy's in retirement who are drawing a pension off of the freight division will not be winner's.....The shippers who will be paying higher prices do not win.....The competitor's employees will see working conditiond deterorate faster than the skin on my butt after a Brown recluse bit........ The only real winners are the Fat-Cat CEO's at the competing companies.......... So I ask all of my brothers and sisters at YRC "Give it your Best" and make the deserving parties involved here the real "Winners", not some number crunching cigar smoking baffoon who holds most of common people in the same regard as he does the mud on the soles of his shoes...

Then again we could all win by not having the STRESS day after day if they just shut the doors. And we all can try and do what we always wanted to do but couldn't cus we and I were greedy and wanted to chase that all mighty dollar!!! Ive seen so many of us claiming to be just good ole boys tryin to make a livin (Driving CADILACS and HARLEYS and big ole SUV'S) to work; working 60 hrs plus a week every week, and crying about it if you were couple hrs short of it. Maybe its time we give all the material things up and look up. Just a thought your BROTHER always

    I agree with ya
    But help me to understand
It sounds as if you are not doing that which you want
It also sounds like you are under a lot of stress
    if so my friend
    I ask respectfully
why wait for yrcw to shut the door
this is still a free country and the door is wide open
I have less stress here then any of my other jobs/ and whats wrong with caddies or Harley, as long as one manages their finances correctly these can be budgeted in

Well, i am laid off, so i don't feel any stress, cus im bankrupt, and now i live on a budget, tryin to keep my house, while my brothers are scratching and clawing trying to work their 60 hrs to keep their toys, like i did but i had no toys just mismanaged my money and some with 30 plus yrs, but that doesn't bother me either, some people just want to stay busy, me i feel a lot less stress i think than they do worrying about whether they are gonna get their overtime, which keeps me from what i like to do driving a truck for a union carrier and being home everyday with great health insur. for my 3 kids
