Default YRC Wanna keep your job ?

I know our situation is bad and there is not much we can do about it. One thing we can do is to give leads to our company. I am in san jose, ca. and 2 out of 3 of our sales people are gone now. There is a lot of freight in our city but no sales people. Your terminal is probably in the same situation. They are doing inside sales from denver and if you give leads they will follow them up, or they say they will. It is about all we can do to keep our company , good jobs and union alive. I am not happy with our situation either but our action and effort is our only hope. Give a lead to your company and tell your co workers to do so as well and lets hope for the best. If we go down , lets at least do it fighting. Our jobs, livelyhood and future depend on it !

We are getting a form on the dispatch wall that shows who gave the lead who called and what was found out. I know it is is discourageing, but if we go down the union and our decent lifestyle is over. We are laying off on mondays now in san jose, ca. Out of the combined 75 people on the list now only about 30 are working and the word yesterday is there will be more hard layoffs soon since most of the vacations are over and the busy time of year is nearing the end. If they are not calling these customers maybe you can go to your district manager and ask why. Maybe someone in management needs to be fired if they can't follow up on your leads. We can't give up , can we?

Been there done that and have went as far as getting customers back only to find out thru horrible service by management and dispatchers we constantly were missing pickups and deliveries. Customers were tired of excuses daily. Regional managers will not hold terminal managers accountable if they can adjust there numbers if you know what I mean. We've lost numerous top paying accounts including hazmat recently because of the poor service. Almost a 33%drop in daily bill count. Wheres the accountability?

Yeah, great idea!! To bad so many of us try to "fight" for certain accounts a couple of times, then if things don't work out just how they think they should, we just give up trying.

Had our sales rep call and thanked me personally for securing a new account that in her words was a perfect account. Heavy dense freight thats not a corp account. Competition had some bad rumors about us that were untrue they told the customer.

Now its our job to it the gold glove service were capable of doing. Yeah, I know I will have to baby this account for awhile.

I find it difficult to give sales leads. There are 2 problems that I have with this. The first is they don't do anything with them. They have promised this time they will, SURE. The next is, I have given back 40% of wages and benefits to the company and now they want me to be a salesman to? Forget it! They can hire more sales people. I understand your wanting to save the company and your good paying job, but at what cost do you want to help them? When your making $10 per hour and you need the money to pay your bills because they took your health insurance! I used to think that this company was going to fail, now I believe they used this recession to benefit themselves. I have given plenty to these JERKS in my 20 years as an employee. The letter writing and following drivers campaign has started at my terminal in the past 2 weeks. Does that sound like a company that values their employees? I'm not giving them anything. If we are going out of business, it's not going to be my fault.

Ya, the company really isn't very good at motivating people. They were following us for a while.Of course the management have always been jerks to the teamsters so the only real difference is we need freight now and not the crappy freight we have been getting. I haven't seen so many handjobs in years, seems like everything comes off the pallet.
