Truck Rodeo Champions

Way to go! Our hat's are off to Ron V. and Randall B. here at 881.

Randall took first place in the straight truck division.

Ron took first place in the flatbed division and was Grand Champion of the truck rodeo.

We have very few entrants from YRC each year compared to the other companies but we keep on knocking down the first place awards!

I participated in 2007 in Tampa, Florida. I didn't win anything but a Yellow driver was the Grand Champion that year.

The two guys who paractice at our terminal won PA state's title. Was this the nationals in Columbus which you are posting about?

In 2007 the Nationals were in Minnesota.

Slave this was at the State level.

It is sponsered in Florida by the ATA. American Trucking Association. I'm sure it must be the same in other states, they may have history on the rodeos.

I really had an attitude towards truck rodeos' cause I worked for a company who forced us to come in on our day off,unpaid and do it against each other..and we were always illegal and never home...they made me really angry......but the guys who practice at our terminal are really good guys and good Teamsters. One was a steward for years for APA and knows the rulebook in and out. He is not some kind of suckup for doing it. His life has been spent on trucking, it's what he does and what he knows very well and he has had numerous titles with these rodeos..He told me it is like his golf or skeet shooting or something. It is what he tries to get good at. And he is good at it..and his partner got some kind of state title also this year.

The year I went the company paid for everything! We got Thusday and Friday off paid. We were paid mileage in our personal vehicle to and from Tampa. Hotel was paid me my wife and 4 children. We kept receipts for ALL our meals and were reimbersed. The company paid for the banquet for all of us. The company took us out for dinner 1 night steak and lobster. That was the last year the company paid for everything. It was like all inclusive vacation.
