if they sit by and watch yrc go under all by themselves, they pick up alot of freight for nothing.

The problem that I see is that for too many years people have took too much pride in the company that they work for and forget where their loyality should really be and that is with the union that you belong to.Why should one care about the brand name of a corperation as long as it abides by the contract that was put in place to protect the membership. Why sit and worry if the company you work for is going to be bought out by another company, you can't do a damn thing about it so it is not worth the stress. The best thing that I can think of is to stay united and support the Union officers that you elected instead of badmouthing them in the drivers room so every company person could here as I have heard so many times by people that never attend a union meeting and they know who they are.

I went through mergers with two different companies back in the 70's and 80's and guess what? the attitude back then was the same as it is now and that is that because "My company bought your company you should go to the bottom of the board" and the leadership of the union back then took the same position as they do now and rightly so in my opinion. If a brother puts in lets say 20 years with a company and pays his dues every month then why should he be forced to eat crapp because of a corperate decision that he/she had no control over.

I grew up with this kind of thinking and I heard the same kind of talk about the Yellow Roadway merge and I found that the union always did take the right position and I was one that was affected by that merger and it did not bother me a bit because I knew that the brother that whent ahead of me earned it.

I've since retired but I will be a TEAMSTER till the end and I will look in here every now and then just to see how things are going. I wish the best for all my brothers and sisters and hope that they will never forget that you belong to the best organiazation in the world. UNITED WE STAND.

I have noticed UPS Freight trailers are being loaded at the USF Reddaway Terminal in Fontana,California where I presently Work! Could that be a sign of a possible merger??

Nothing like resurrecting an old thread !
Chances are that those trailers are brand new and being transported across the country for delivery to the end user ... UPS Freight.
    Nothing unusual.

You're correct on that. We had many new FedEx trailers come through 881 awhile back. YRC was getting them to the destination terminals.
