Default YRC, Teamsters to Discuss Operations Changes

YRC, looking to restructure its operations as the trucking operator seeks to rebuild its finances, is preparing for talks with the Teamsters union on a redesign of its freight terminal network and how its union employees handle shipments.

Now Take this as a rumor but what was told to me this week from a union official is that the next COO will be addressing the next day freight that YRC handles and that they will be going back to their core business Long Haul and the next day freight will go to the regionals.. This could get interesting ,but like I said to me it is still a rumor..

This is what I never will understand,As YRC wants to get rid of freight it will surely be putting more workers out of work...Why would you wish for that????If YRC does this and the workforce shrinks once again it will be then that Workmans Comp that does them in as the average age of a YRC employee will surely go up ...

The writings on the wall, been there for the last couple of years, why worry about some poor slob getting laid off, the way it's going we'll all be in the UE line soon. If we were smart, (we're not) we'd have already jumped ship and found better employment instead of worrying about lay offs.

Please send it all to USF Reddaway.
We will be happy to take all the freight we can get.
Reddaway and all the USF Regions are a AGGRESSIVE Bunch and we can handle it.
    THANK YOU.
PS "sure hope it is true."

I think we do have way to much non commercial deliveries. Some times I feel like a Atlas Van lines driver.

When I worked at New Penn many years ago it was only next day freight pretty much.I'd say about 7 years ago we started seeing more freight from other parts out West. After YRC bought us we got even more .They expanded the coverage zone.It was mostly garbage freight. When I started at New Penn you would never see a double stacked skid ever, did that change lol.Anyway on the flip side, just before I left in 08 if it wasn't for the freight from out West guys would have probably been laid off, guys were walking like crazy.I guess Gomer and NEMF took a lot of that away.Oh well
