    Default YRC and the Union

Not much here that we know already ..

YRC wants five-year extension, more flexibility in Teamsters deal - Kansas City Business Journal

That report said the company seeks more “flexibility” but did not provide specific demands. Vic Terranella, president of Kansas City’s Teamsters Local 41, was on the conference call. He confirmed that little happened on the call.

"flexibility” Sounds like one of those word with a lot of grey area...

They have all the flexibility they need. They are too friggen stupid to exercise what they already have. What they actually mean is they want the right to piss all over seniority. Give them an inch they will want a mile.

When they figure out that BS scam maybe they can write up letters to all the people we owe money to weekly and monthlly and pass it on to them and see what how OUR bill collectors respond to OUR need for more flexibility. Welcome to our real world where our need for flexibility is denied.

MAYBE THEY WANT THE FLEXIBILITY OF HAVING US COME IN ON CALL, GET RID OF BIDS, HAVE US DO MANAGEMENT AND MECHANIC WORK AND ROAD DOCK AND CITY WORK WITH HALF THE AMOUNT OF GUYS, WHILST THEY QUADRUPLE THEIR OWN PAY AND CUT OURS AND WITH THAT QUADRUPLING USE UP ANY PROFIT AND STILL KEEP US IN DEBT FOR YET THE NEXT BREAKING OF THE CONTRACT.

Actually, it is called sustainability, not flexibility, and with the technology they have that was approved,

    Teamsters Approve YRC Freight

you might as well consider them part of the NSA. Did the teamster leaders ever inform their members about what they approved for the company?

I started driving back in 1974, I registered for the VietNam War draft, and that week, jumped into a Truck. I was not fortunate like my dad to be a Union Driver. I can remember Yellow and Roadway drivers. I made the same Deliveries and Pick-Ups and talked with many of these drivers everyday. Yellow and Roadway had The Best drivers on the roads. UPS was not as strong of a company back then, but UPS was Still a Very Good Company. It was Yellow and Roadway in the Ohare Area that was seen everywhere. All the Yellow and Roadway Drivers that I knew back then, have Either long Been Retired or Past away. I miss the good ol days. I hope one day YRC, will Treat their drivers the way UPS today, treats their drivers. I know UPS has its days, but IMO, They are the Best Company to work for. Keeping the Union Strong, will make YRC, a Great Compnay once again. It takes time.

We all want a Pension, and the way I always have seen it (Through My Dad) that every bit counts, you don't want to lose a single member, because that's money the Teamsters needs to keep things going. I know this is opening a can of worms, but we do need as many members as possible. Ever since Airborne Airfreight went DHL, its been a down hill. We can turn things around.

I think he was referring more to how UPS management controls things.

I will agree it could take a long time ( if ever ) to turn around YRC. Those mistakes and finanical deals made many rich and many poor already.

Your right, but I always have hope for YRC to come back like they were once. I had a few friends that worked there way back then, So I like these companies Yellow and Roadway, Some of the best darn drivers I have ever ran with.
