Default Laid off again in Milwaukee (linehaul)

    Just got the call...laid off November 24, 2007....recalled February 14, 2008.... laid off again February 23, 2008....recalled March 17, 2008....laid off again May 3, 2008

Is it really that bad or are they just trying to shake some full scale men out of the tree to make room for 3 year wage progression Utility Drivers

Sorry to hear it MH. I can't say for sure what Roadway is up to but I do know the economy is pretty bad and freight levels are way down for everyone.

    Good luck

MH I hope things swing your way soon. I know from things I have heard you guys in Milwaukee have been being jacked with relentlessly.. I hope you find something steady to stay afloat this summer, and maybe the next call-back will be the last..

I wish the best for every laid off or out of work Teamster. I think that this being an election year, plus the economy being bad to begin with isn't really helping our cause. People aren't buying anything with 4.00 gas. People are afraid of the next day.

That ain't no doubt. Seems nobody running for office is hammerring the economy like they should be. I can tell'em how to fix it Get gas down to around $2.25 a gallon..Bring our darn jobs home and keep'em here. Just because its FREE trade does not mean somebody isn't paying for it, and as of the last 25 years of free trade the American worker has been paying for it with lower & lower wages and more economic instability in our homes as each year passes...

Since this bond trade has gone through there is another lay off I know where terminals have people laid off and they have foreign drivers comming in and picking up there freight. I hear the supervisiors not being able to pickup or deliver freight I also know that road drivers are picking up freight that has been there for 5 or 6 days if they keep laying people off they will not be able to provide customer service and we will be right back where we started. I know that the bean counters say the only controlable expense is payroll and their nea jerk reaction is to cut payroll but it is a slippery slope. I sure hope they start calling people back before it is to late (TwinScrew)
