    Default PT Dockworker

    Greetings,

I have recently accepted a job at YRC as a PT Dockworker

Can anyone give me some details to what I have gotten myself into?
I know the pay is 14.00 - the 15%. What benefits like pension or H&W would I receive? Is there any idea of the typical amount of hours I can expect?
how long is the probation period for?
    Thanks in advance...

Have you received an orientation from your shop Steward yet?

Local 690 is in the Western conference. Probation period is 30 days once you are notified of full hire status. 100 hours worked in a month for full insurance benefits. You will receive approximately $2.25 an hour up to 2080 hours contribution to a 401k that is through the Teamster's National 401k fund. I urge you to contact your Steward if you haven't done so already.

Actually you will make 14.00/hr without the 15% reduction. New hires aren't part of that. Your hours vary and you have a 2 hour window from when they call to shift start. Just accept every call and you should do fine. They can call you back every 10 hours so be careful of the double-backs.

That's what I thought. We have a 4 hr guy and they're taking the 15%. New MOU says $14 rate is not subject to reduction, but the 2010 MOU says 4 hr casuals are. Seems the newer one should rule that out,but they're doing it.

First week down. I will admit there is so much to learn, but all in all I enjoy the work.
