    Default Possible Yellow/Roadway Merger?

I've been hearing rumors about a pending Yellow/Roadway merger but what I've read so far is very unclear about what's gonna happen. All three articles mention the Yellow and Roadway brands remaining in the marketplace but also mention "one national network".

Any thought on what the future may hold? The "one national network" phrase has me wondering if Roadway and Yellow will each have geographic regions they service while still being under one national network.

Read these 3 releases and see what you think.

I think Traffic world online has the bullseye-
"There is a process outlined in the National Master Freight Agreement that the union will utilize to ensure that our members are treated fairly throughout what will inevitably be a very difficult process."

    Translation - Massive layoffs coming

Here's yer new company. This trailer was in my REDDAWAY yard this weekend. Please note on the left it said at one time "good bye USF."

I think the USF companies and New Penn will come out of this fine and eventually be sold or spun off.

The issues facing Yellow right now are mainly with the long haul side of the operation and that's were they are gonna give all their attention.

Yeah, they'll be spun off when they look like the other YRC orphans, Preston, SAIA

This doesn't sound good to me brothers. Whenever you here merger, now adays, you know what usually follows, layoffs. I hate to see any Teamster loose there union jobs for any reason.I will be watching this one.

Best of luck to all drivers involved!

The whole "commonly owned" wage thing in the contract sure is a coincidence. I am still trying to figure out all of the blind allegiance.

And they say that I am the one who drank the kool-aid.

I drank all the beer, I wish they would get the story straight!

C'mon, you guys didn't see this coming? One really large nation-wide LTL carrier?

Nice neat package, large size has it's advantages, and disadvantages, when it comes to employee morale.

I think they were not planning on merging anything at the time of the purchase. But have been forced into it since the job market has gone over seas and the bad economy. And many other factors of the declining of ltl freight in the USA. And the non-union competitors.
