    Hypothetically...

A union member decided to take a non union job with company. They do so knowing that if they do, they'll lose their seniority.

Years later this person now wants back in, where does go seniority wise?

If they severed employment, he or she starts a new employment date when they return or are rehired. If they were laid off and just received a call back letter and they come back, they’re seniority stays where it was when they were laid off. Really need more information in what you are asking. Hope this helps.

After rereading your post Maybe you’re talking about at the same company. If said person left a union position for a non union position, they gave up seniority and union benefits when they made that choice. Should start a new date when they return

There is a lot of talk the Jack Cooper has put in a $2 billion dollar bid for the entire YRC and will rehire the former workers.. Although I don't believe they would have any problems with seniority my question would be how they handle length of service and pensions,, Evidently Jack Cooper is owned by some rich family with deep pockets..

Hard to say.. I would hope to think it will become reality Still many Teamsters still out of work.. The company that owns Jack Cooper seem to rely on the bankruptcy .. There last Bankruptcy they had $300 million in debt wiped away and $2 billion in pension liability wiped away .. Grass may not be greener on the other side but who knows??
