yellow change of operations: “super regional” network begins

yellow’s proposed change of operations and utility change of operations will combine reddaway and yrc in the west, eliminating nine terminals, consolidating others, and creating a large number of utility driver positions. The “super regional” network plan calls for new penn to be consolidated in the third quarter of this year, and holland before the end of this year.

because of the scale of this change, it will be very disruptive to many employees, with changes of domicile, change in work status, and in seniority.

Management believes this will speed up delivery times, reduce empty miles, and provide more turn-around and meet-and-turn runs, as well as consolidation of terminals.

Management has requested that the union hearing be on or about june 13, and wants implementation in the west no sooner than july 17. The hearing is where the union can raise issues of seniority, work rules, and review the details in the numbers of jobs.

yellow change of operations: Bidding opens in the west

      posted on august 08, 2022

the yellow freight change of operations is moving forward in the west, with the rest of the country to follow later. The change will implement the “super regional” network and integrate reddaway and yrc terminals, and utilize utility drivers extensively. Nine terminals are closing in the west.

      bidding opened on august 5.

You can read the decision of the change of operations committee here. Protections in the decision include protection for road drivers who transfer to new road domiciles, who will be red-circled and guaranteed income protection (see #14 in the decision); nmfa and western supplement work rules shall prevail (reddaway’s road operation may retain its call blocks). The committee will retain jurisdiction for one year to resolve controversies.

You can review this article to see a copy of yellow’s proposed change of operations and utility change of operations.
