  • March 2021 COO at the Winston Salem 671 terminal

Found out a few days ago that Holland will be absorbing YRC Freight at the Winston Salem 671 Terminal. One problem is that YRC is a classified barn with 4 boards. We have people with out any CDL. Once the COO is posted after the meetings I will put it here.

I was reading on another forum that New Penn Scranton was moving to Dorrence Pa.. I kinda remember when Red star opened that terminal in Dorrence, closed Binghamton and it kind of became a shit show.. I don't think this would work out too either but only the college educated transportation engineers know for sure..
I think YRC is gonna soon be under one name..Merging the men will be the problem..Different locals with different rules..

Does that mean you will be working for Holland? but you keep your seniority and time with YRC??

I do hope that everyone gets to keep their jobs but looking at what has happened in the past that is not always true..

Get ready for some more animosity than usual... after all... we have plenty more Meesters in our union these days.

Are there any Holland work rules that are different from the YRC rules you are currently working under? I seem to remember back from 2004 when Red Star shut down that those "lucky" enough to be hired on with Holland would have to work under it's rules. The term "Hoffa dispatch" comes to mind.

Do you remember how shitty USF Holland treated us USF Red Star Teamsters in 2004? I'll bet Ernie still remembers it.

T believe the Holland work rules you speak off pertained to the road board.. Most of the locals had a two or three day out and return home.. Holland I believe could keep you out all month if they needed too.. That is why they opened a road terminal in Erie PA just across the border from New York because they didn't want any part of the work rules enjoyed by New York and New England Teamsters..

I use to run into them in western NY running across the NY thruway between Rochester and Buffalo and then down by Pittsburgh when we use to bring freight in to their Mars Pa terminal..They did though how to run freight.. Kinda like NewPenn use to.. What screwed them up was the use of those 53 ft trailers and the obsession of management to load everyone high and tight.. Hollands personal?? Some of them were very friendly but some of the management thought their shit didn't stink.. I never let it bother me.. But Ernie?? I think he has a very short memory.. Holland was always Red Stars "Big" brother..

Not really with local cartage, but the road is a different story. YRC 3 beds and home or you get paid in bed, holland is 5 beds before going home.

Holland in GBO has 2 boards, local cartage and road, YRC at the same terminal has 4 boards, road, P&D, Dock and Switchers. We have non CDL people and Holland dont. I am not sure how they are going to merge that mess.

Hollands #1 man is like in the high 20's on the merged list.

Didnt USF own TNT Pilot at the end? Didnt they close them down? and a few years later here comes USF Holland. Exact same pain color themes.

No, I think TNT Pilot shut down before they formed USF. If I remember correctly TNT took its 5 profitable companies and formed USF. That would be I think Holland, Reddaway, Bestway, Dugan, and Red Star. And as I remember it was during the failed Dugan organizing drive that the IBT pulled Red Star out on a one day strike to force USF to the bargaining table.

We all know that strike failed and the Teamsters offered to unconditionally call off the strike and return to work. At that time USF was in secret negotiations with YRC and YRC already had New Penn. The strike gave USF the opportunity to shut Red Star down.

Crazy would know more about that since I believe he was involved in the WARN class action suit.
