This is really outlandish. Feeling really upset again about the direction of our country. You really need to read this whole article.

Postmaster General, a Trump crony, admits slowing the mail
Trump’s Postmaster General, Louis DeJoy, admitted yesterday, in a closed-door meeting with lawmakers, that he is behind the wave of mail delays rolling across the country in recent weeks.

The delays have already endangered the lives of people from coast to coast who depend upon the postal service for timely delivery of the medicine they need to stay alive. Millions of others need the Postal Service to deliver essential items that have become even more critical as the pandemic rages.

All of that, apparently, matters little to the Trump administration, determined as it is to destroy or at least hobble the Postal Service as millions prepare to use it to vote by mail in the upcoming November elections.

Trump’s hope is that delayed delivery of the mailed ballots will reduce the torrent of mail-in votes he fears could result in his defeat in November.

Another glob of sludge getting a pocket lining from Don the con. I talk to a driver most mornings that works part time at the facility in Salt Lake. This slow down is 100% by design.

This is a great turn of events IMO

Letter Carriers union files nationwide grievance against mail slowdown scheme
WASHINGTON—The Letter Carriers union has filed a national grievance, an unusual move, against Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, who took over the agency, promptly fired 21-31 top staffers, and imposed shutdown actions and an overtime ban that slows the mail down.

The union’s grievance, which also demands mandated talks over DeJoy’s moves, comes just after 84 lawmakers from both parties wrote to him denouncing the shutdowns and work ban, and as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., blasted DeJoy’s schemes in a weekend press conference via Zoom.

And Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-Va., chair of a House subcommittee that deals with postal service legislation, tweeted DeJoy’s slowdown scheme “is absolutely an attempt to interfere with the (November) election.”

“One way to suppress (mail-in) votes is to slow down delivery of the mail,” Connolly tweeted.

“NALC initiated a national-level grievance regarding the Postal Service’s unilateral implementation of the delivery initiative test called Expedited Street/Afternoon Sortation (ESAS),” union President Fredric Rolando’s formal legal filing said.

The AFO-CIO stands behind the "Delivering for America Act".
Yes the Post Office has a financial problem now. That can be helped with an infusion of cash.
We need the postal service, for communities big and small, so the seniors and veterans can get their prescriptions, for the jobs.
The Post Office employs 500,000 men, women, veterans and all work to make sure they deliver !

Here is the letter from the AFO-CIO.

    Dear Representative:
On behalf of the AFL-CIO, I urge you to support the “Delivering for America Act “(H.R.
8015) when it comes to the floor later this week. The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) is one of
America’s most revered institutions and it is a lifeline for countless seniors, veterans and rural
Americans who depend on it for the delivery of medicines, checks and official documents.
Today the Postal Service is experiencing two crises, one caused by financial losses
inflicted by the pandemic and the other caused by a President determined to undermine
confidence in its ability to handle the expected surge in ballots sent by mail. The Delivering for
America Act addresses both of these threats. It provides $25 billion in immediate relief to offset
the financial impact from the pandemic, and it will stop the Trump Administration from taking
any steps that might decrease services during a pandemic and, thereby, threaten the integrity of
    our elections.
In ordinary times, the Postal Service does not rely on taxpayer support, but these are no
ordinary times. Revenue losses and operational mandates related to the pandemic will cost the
USPS tens of billions of dollars over the next couple of years. Similarly, the Postal Service has
the capacity to provide a safe alternative to in-person voting, but confidence in the integrity of
the election could be shattered if the administration is allowed to take unilateral steps to curtail
    current service standards.
Supporting the U.S. Postal Service should not be a partisan matter. We urge every
member of Congress to support the Delivering for America Act so that the USPS will continue to
serve the American people as it has since the founding of our Nation.

By no means is this over yet. Many of us in rural communities depend on the post office. My mom and dad got their meds that way. What else is this president going to destroy? We cannot get him out of office quick enough!

House passes postal aid bill as thousands protest to #SaveThePostOffice

The House apparently listened to Abrahamson, Szeredy, Ritsema, Davis, and the thousands who turned out nationwide. It passed the Delivering For America Act (HR8015) to roll back DeJoy’s service cuts and all the other Postal Service slashes dating back to Jan. 1. The legislation would also keep that old status quo in place through Jan. 1, 2021 or the end of the pandemic emergency, whichever is later. The vote was 257-150 with 26 Republicans joining all 231 Democrats present in voting for it.

The rest of the GOP voted “no.” And in an indication of right-wing hatred for the USPS, workers, and government, at least one such group, calling itself Freedom Works, made the roll call a litmus test for the election. For the right-wingers, voting “no,” and killing the USPS, would be marked as positive.

HR8015 also sends $25 billion to USPS to make up for revenues it lost when first-class mail volume crashed this year as a result of the Depression and forced closures needed to battle the coronavirus pandemic. DeJoy and the GOP claim the USPS will make it through the Nov. 3 election.

Our mail carriers deserve some help. Here is a message from the APWU, the American Postal Workers Union. They are being used a pawns in a game.

Celebrate postal workers - Defend the Post Office
On Tuesday, November 17, people will come together across America to celebrate the work of our public Postal Service a pillar of our democracy and our communities.
We’ve defended our democratic rights, now we must defend the post office.
It's time to pass $25B relief and stop DeJoy’s delays. Join us at a press conference/event recognizing the role of postal workers in defending our democratic rights and call for action to defend the Postal Service.
You can also join us as we make calls to our U.S. senators at 844-402-1001 for APWU members and 833-924-0085 for our community allies.
