A Tumultuous Week for Chattanooga Volkswagen Workers
In a week of frenzied developments in the organizing drive at the Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the National Labor Relations Board tossed out the union's election petition, the Auto Workers (UAW) immediately refiled it, and the company announced it is removing the plant's unpopular CEO.

The Labor Board's decision gives the German automaker even more time to engage in the scorched-earth anti-union tactics commonly deployed by U.S. employers.

Workers at the plant are once again facing down fierce opposition from politicians and business-financed astroturf groups, just like in the ill-fated 2014 union drive.

But unlike last time, the company has joined the fray. VW’s ongoing anti-union actions—at the Labor Board and inside the plant—are at stark odds with its official claim of union neutrality.

In a letter to employees, Volkswagen announced today that Antonio Pinto, the CEO of the Chattanooga plant, will be leaving the factory "in the coming days" and will be replaced by Frank Fischer, who previously worked as the chief executive in Chattanooga from 2008 to 2014.

Announcing a sudden shake-up in management is a common union-busting tactic. The idea is to convince workers that the company recognizes there are problems, but is making changes that make unionization unnecessary.

The dates have been set for another election at the VW plant, Chattanooga.

VW Chattanooga union election dates are set for June
Volkswagen Chattanooga workers will decide next month whether to join the United Auto Workers union.
An election in the East Tennessee assembly plant has been scheduled June 12, 13 and 14, the UAW reported Wednesday.
Scheduling the vote ends a lingering dispute between the German automaker and the Detroit union about going forward with an election.
The National Labor Relations Board set the June election dates. The union had petitioned the federal agency to schedule the vote.
It would be the second plant-wide vote since VW workers narrowly rejected union representation in 2014. The next year a small band of maintenance workers voted to join UAW Local 42.

Tell Volkswagen: It’s time to stop your war on workers!

Working people at the Volkswagen plant in Tennessee have been fighting for years for a union. Nearly every other Volkswagen worker around the globe already has a union. But in Tennessee, management has waged an all-out war to stop these workers—refusing to negotiate, hiring high-priced union-busting lawyers and trying to block a vote.

The war is on at VW over the union vote.
Here is an anti-union promotional story on rejecting the vote at VW.
Look at the pictures of the employees who don't want the union.
Those pictures were taken in a lawyers office, Evans Harrison Hackett PLLC in Chattanooga.
These employees claim the union doesn't help, better pay and benefits isn't true and all the other usual propaganda companies put out.
    I wonder why ?

Anti-UAW VW workers say they have a voice; UAW not needed
The Volkswagen plant employees who gathered to talk about their opposition to the United Auto Workers in next week's union election in Chattanooga were sporting identical T-shirts recently.
Volkswagen employee Comekia Mikes poses for a portrait in the law offices of Evans Harrison Hackett PLLC on Friday, May 31, 2019, in Chattanooga, Tenn. Mikes is one of a group of employees opposes the unionization of Chattanooga's Volkswagen plant by the United Automobile Workers of America.

VW Threatening to Close Chattanooga Plant if UAW Wins – Facebook Helping to Bust Union – Tenn Gov Could Drop a Bomb

    Union busting 101.....

In the run-up to the union election, groups like Center for Union Facts are using Facebook data mining tools to cheaply and directly target Volkswagen workers on the fence about voting for the union.

In the run-up to the union election, workers have told Payday that Volkswagen is running daily captive audience meetings that last as long as half hour.

Volkswagen has also promised to make changes in the plant. For some younger workers, the promises are working. However, veterans of the last union election at Volkswagen in 2014, who have heard these promises before aren’t buying it.
Threats from those stalwarts of Union busting.....

In the 2014 election, US Senator Bob Corker said that if the plant unionized that it could lead to Volkswagen closing it.

Emails obtained by the Intercept show that Tennessee Governor Bill Lee is being advised by Corker’s former chief of staff Todd Womack.

Lee has already warned that if VW unionized it could lead to fewer businesses coming to Tennessee.

During the last union election, Tenn Governor threatened to withdraw hundreds of millions in tax subsidies if Volkswagen is unionized. Many fear that Lee may make a similar threat in the last week of the campaign to kill the union drive.

It is amazing the lengths these companies will go to stop the organizing. Then when you have politicians step in to help the company!!!
