    Re: National Contract Negotiations Continue

    Finally have some news.

Teamsters, Carhaul Employer Group Negotiations Under Way
Following the membership vote to not ratify a new National Agreement and Central/Southern Supplement in September 2016, the carhaul employers group asked the Teamsters National Automobile Transporters Industry Negotiating Committee (TNATINC) to return to the bargaining table. Contract negotiations began today in Detroit with the Employers group.

The TNATINC has reviewed the reasons for the rejected agreement with the Local Unions and their carhaul members. The National Negotiating Committee remains committed to reaching a new tentative contract that ensures the long-term economic well-being of all carhaul members.

More information will be provided as developments take place.

Leaders of Carhaul Local Unions Overwhelmingly Endorse Tentative Agreement
Leaders of Carhaul local unions from across the country overwhelmingly endorsed a new tentative National Master Automobile Transporters Agreement (NMATA) today in Detroit, paving the way for members to vote on the contract.

Ballots are scheduled to be mailed out to members on or about March 10 and are tentatively scheduled to be counted on March 30. Local unions will conduct informational meetings leading up to the March 10 mailing date.

Carhaul members approved the Eastern and Western Supplements in the previous referendum. Because there have been no changes in these two supplements, they are approved and will not be re-voted. However, all carhaul members will get to exercise their right to vote on the National Agreement and General Monetary Settlement.

Carhaulers Ratify Contract, Beat Hoffa Givebacks

Carhaul Teamsters stood united and Voted No to reject concessions, not once but twice. Today, they overwhelmingly ratified a new national carhaul agreement—stripped of Hoffa’s concessions.

A year and a half ago, Hoffa and Carhaul Director Kevin Moore cut a deal with the employers that cut carhaulers wages and gutted their job security.

Members Voted No to reject concessions by 87 percent—and they’ve been networking and uniting ever since.

Teamster carhaulers deserved better than contract they ratified today. But by sticking together, they defeated the worst of Hoffa’s givebacks.

Hoffa will issue the usual press release bragging about the ratification vote. It will fool no one.

                          Carhaulers Ratify New Contract
Seventeen months after 87% of members Voted No to reject Hoffa’s concessions, Teamster carhaulers have voted by 86% to ratify a new contract. By sticking together, members defeated wage cuts and language changes that would have gutted job their security.

The contract is not what it should be, but it is a whole lot better than first deal struck by Hoffa because a rank and file network, led by Fred Zuckerman and other Teamsters United officers, united against contract givebacks.

The contract will now go into effect. It expires May 31, 2021.

Teamster Carhaul Members Ratify National Contract, Regional Agreement

                            The official IBT news release.
(WASHINGTON) – Teamster carhaul members ratified a new national auto transporters contract and a regional agreement today which will maintain and protect health, welfare and pension benefits through May of 2021 and provide annual wage increases. The national contract was ratified by a margin of over 86 percent, and the Central Southern supplement was also ratified by 84 percent. Voting took place over the past three weeks and ballots were counted today.

The 5,000 workers covered by the agreements will also receive a back-pay settlement of $1,600 to cover the period that has elapsed since the expiration of the 2011-2015 agreement.

“The negotiations have been a long and difficult process but in the end we negotiated an agreement that met the two top goals of our membership: traditional wage increases and maintaining our members’ top-tier health and pension benefits,” said Kevin Moore, Director of the Teamsters Carhaul Division. “Our carhaul members are the best, most experienced workers in the industry and they deserve to be rewarded for their hard work.”
