Default 1,270 factory workers learn GM will cut 2nd shift at Michigan plant

What a difference in one year. Are the people who run these companies that stupid or is it just corporate greed again?

General Motors plans to end a full production shift at its only factory in Detroit in March, a year after it added the shift during what promised to be a second record year for auto sales.

About 1,270 workers at the Hamtramck Assembly plant are receiving notification of the plans, according to documents filed Dec. 19 with the state of Michigan.

The factory - which opened in 1985 and spans the border of Detroit and Hamtramck - produces the Chevrolet Volt and Impala, Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac CT6.

Auto sales are forecast to come close to 2015's record 17.5 million units, analysts say. GM is reporting growth in market share.

People stopped buying cars, any large expenditures, during the uncertainly of the election outcome.
The election may be over, but the turmoil it created isn't over.

This factory produced the Volt for which sales plummeted .. Way overpriced for what you get.. Don't think the turmoil of the election actually had anything to do with it..Maybe we can blame Obama for his failing [clean energy] policies or we can blame the politicians for trying to keep the price of oil down to punish Russia..There are many answers to this multiple question..
