(WASHINGTON) – The following is the official statement of Teamsters General President James P. Hoffa on the report that the U.S. Department of Justice today filed an appeal of the permanent injunction against the implementation of an overtime rule finalized during the Obama administration on behalf of the U.S. Labor Department.

“With today’s appeal, critical and long overdue reforms to the Labor Department’s overtime regulations that were issued in 2016 have a chance to move forward,” Hoffa said. “It is our hope that the Labor Department will win this appeal and enforce the updated overtime regulation. Millions of workers would benefit from these reforms.”
