Aloise suspended from teamsters
Rome Aloise is out of office, suspended from all positions, salaries, and power in the Teamsters Union for a period of two years, in a decision handed down on December 22.
Hoffa will get to fill the International Vice President vacancy, with the approval of the General Executive Board; Seattle Joint Council 28 President Rick Hicks may be in line for it. Or, will Aloise, who calls himself “the most powerful man in the Teamsters,” demand that Hoffa leave the position vacant for him?
Aloise was also removed as president of Joint Council 7 and Secretary Treasurer of Local 853.
The removal is overdue: Aloise was first charged with serious crimes against the union and members 22 months ago, in February 2016.
The sentence is lighter than expected: the Independent Investigations Officer (IIO) recommended banning him for life. That would be in line with previous punishments handed down, and would be the appropriate punishment for an International vice president caught taking gifts from employers during bargaining, signing sham contracts, and illegally rigging a local union election.

That would be nice but I bet it won't happen.

Judge Jones Issues New Order on Aloise
Judge Barbara Jones has slapped the Hoffa administration, Joint Council 7 and Local 853 for defying her December 22 order suspending Rome Aloise on corruption charges. The judge issued a new order today, directing each of them to take corrective action.
The judge’s order requires the Hoffa administration, Joint Council 7 and Local 853 to inform members via their websites that Aloise is suspended for two years for bringing reproach on the union. All three bodies had a blackout on the news, and continued to list Aloise as an official.
Joint Council 7 also blatantly violated the Teamster constitution by claiming Aloise is still its President and refusing to fill the vacancy for the remainder of the term.
After Teamsters for a Democratic Union blew the whistle on this violation, Judge Jones directed Joint Council 7 to announce a vacancy and move to fill the position by January 17.
Aloise is not “on leave.” He has been thrown out of the union for two years on corruption charges.

Re: Aloise suspended from teamsters
Still in the news. Apparently Mr. Aloise has had new charges placed against him
THE FINAL FALL OF ROME
International Vice President Rome Aloise returned from a two-year suspension from all union offices in December. He immediately began gobbling up titles and multiple salaries at the local, Joint Council, and International Union level.
But Aloise’s days of feasting at the Teamster trough are nearing the end. Instead of running for General President, Aloise will soon be run out of the union—and he has no one to blame but himself.
A new report from the Independent Investigations Officer (IIO) charges Aloise with racketeering, retaliation, knowingly bringing harm to a fellow Teamster, and running Teamster affiliates while suspended from Teamster office.

Rome Aloise Charges Come to a Head
The clock is ticking on a litany of charges against Rome Aloise, the discredited International Vice President from Northern California.
The Hoffa administration has until May 14 to take action on the charges against Aloise or refer them to the Independent Review Officer for a final ruling.
The Summer 2020 Teamster magazine features a eight-page report on Aloise’s pattern of member intimidation, his shadow involvement in running union affairs while suspended from office, and his cozy relationship with Southern Wine & Spirits—the employer Aloise was caught taking payoffs from.
Aloise deployed a team of Teamster attorneys to string out his 2016 charges for 22 months before he was finally suspended from office for two years.

Re: Aloise suspended from teamsters
This is a few days old. The general executive board of the IBT decided to only slap Mr. Aloise on the wrist for his corruption violations.
HOFFA AND VAIRMA VOTE TODAY TO GREEN LIGHT CORRUPTION
In a critical test of whether our union leaders can root out corrupt officials who abuse their positions, a narrow majority on the IBT General Executive Board (GEB) voted 12-11 to give a pass to corrupt Teamster power broker Rome Aloise.
In a GEB vote today, Aloise was given a slap on the wrist for his serial corruption violations. For now, Aloise will walk away with a 30-day suspension with no admission of guilt. This decision was opposed by nearly half of the GEB.
The GEB’s sham decision will surely be overturned by Judge Barbara Jones, the Independent Review Officer, who has the final say on the issue.
Given the mountains of evidence against him, we expect that Aloise will be expelled from the union or hit with a lengthy suspension.
