"After saying on Thursday that "We didn’t get into this mess overnight and it’s going to take months for us to turn things around," adding "We will defeat this pandemic, and to a nation waiting for action, let me be the clearest on this point: Help is on the way," Biden lowered expectations even further on Friday.

Here's what Biden said in late October on the campaign trail about how he'd deal with COVID-19:

"Imagine a day in the not too distant future, when you can enjoy dinner with your friends and family, and maybe even go out to a movie."

Just not for a while, apparently.

WHO decides PCR nasal swab tests are not sufficient COVID-19 tests after they diagnose 24M Americans

The CDC has reported over 24.5 million positive COVID-19 cases in the United States since March. This number has been calculated using PCR nose swab tests, which up until Inauguration Day, were considered the gold standard by both the World Health Organization and the Center for Disease Control.

However, a new statement released by the World Health Organization suggests a simple positive test result from a nose swab is not enough to confirm a positive case.

That announcement stated, “Most PCR assays are indicated as an aid for diagnosis, therefore, health care providers must consider any result in combination with timing of sampling, specimen type, assay specifics, clinical observations, patient history, confirmed status of any contacts, and epidemiological information.”

While the reliability of nose swab PCR tests have been known for a long time to be problematic, many are now questioning why the WHO suddenly pivoted away from using one positive PCR test result as a confirmation of infection. In past pandemics, data surrounding PCR tests was so shaky, the WHO didn’t consider even the test a valid indication of infection.

With this announcement from the WHO, COVID-19 tests under the Biden administration will be under far more intense scrutiny, meaning test results will take much longer and new cases will go down rapidly. That is, only if the CDC immediately follows the new standard set forth by the World Health Organization.

Massachusetts Rep. Stephen Lynch gets COVID-19 after second vaccine shot

A Massachusetts congressman who received both doses of the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine tested positive for the virus on Friday.

Democratic Rep. Stephen Lynch tested negative before attending President Joe Biden’s inauguration on Jan. 20. He was tested again after a staff member in his Boston office got the virus earlier this week.

Pfizer said it can take seven days for protection from the second dose to kick in, NBC 10 Boston reported. Lynch’s office said he got the second dose vaccine before the inauguration on Jan. 20, nine days before his positive test.

The Pfizer vaccine has been judged 95 percent effective against the virus, though it has not been tested against the mutations that came from the UK and South Africa.

In the statement, his office said Lynch doesn’t have any symptoms of COVID-19. He will self-quarantine and vote by proxy in Congress in the coming week.

Lynch was the second Congressional Democrat from Massachusetts to test positive in as many days. Rep. Lori Trahan said Thursday she had tested positive after repeatedly testing negative.

I think that they can take that 95% number and stick it where the sun doesn't shine because I don't believe that BS for one minute. And even if that were to be true... that's just for the one strain... not for the other two if not more. That would be like going camping in the mountains and only wielding a weapon that could kill a wolf (maybe... if the angle and you hold your mouth just right)... not a cougar or bear.

Michael Osterholm says the U.K. variant will take the U.S. to a frightening new level.

Infectious disease expert Michael Osterholm said on Sunday that the nation is facing a “Category 5” storm as the new and more infectious coronavirus variant first detected in the United Kingdom spreads in the United States.

“We are going to see something like we have not seen yet in this country,” he said.

Osterholm told NBC’s Chuck Todd on “Meet The Press” Sunday that Americans shouldn’t be fooled by the falling infection numbers:

“Imagine where we’re at, Chuck, right now: You and I are sitting on this beach where it’s 70 degrees, perfectly blue skies, gentle breeze. But I see that Hurricane 5, Category 5 or higher, 450 miles offshore. And telling people to evacuate in that nice blue sky day is gonna be hard. But I can also tell you that hurricane’s coming.”

Osterholm, who is director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota and who served on President Joe Biden’s COVID-19 advisory board during the transition, called for giving as many people as possible, especially older Americans, a single dose of the two-dose vaccines rather than ensuring everyone receives the full two doses on schedule.

“We can really do a lot to reduce the number of serious illnesses and deaths in this next big surge, which is coming,” said Osterholm.

Dr. Anthony Fauci revised his recommendation that Americans wear two masks to further protect themselves from the coronavirus.

Fauci spoke about double masking in a video livestream interview with the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) on Thursday.

“There’s nothing wrong with that but there’s no data that indicates that that is going to make a difference,” Fauci said.

Last Monday, Fauci said that wearing two masks “likely” made it safer, claiming that it only made “common sense” to have another layer of protection.

“So, if you have a physical covering with one layer, you put another layer on, it just makes common sense that it likely would be more effective,” Fauci said in an interview with NBC News “TODAY.” “That’s the reason why you see people either double masking or doing a version of an N95.”

He also said it was important for vaccinated individuals to keep wearing masks because they could still be carrying the coronavirus.

The virus, he explained, could be transmitted by individuals protected by the vaccine because they would not show any symptoms.

“Then you could inadvertently or innocently transmit the infection by not wearing a mask,” Fauci said, admitting that it seemed “paradoxical.”

He said that in the next few months, he hoped to have scientific studies on the amount of virus found in individuals who were vaccinated versus those who were not.

“I believe we’ll see that the level of virus in people who have been vaccinated but are infected without symptoms likely will be very low,” he said.

He continued, “Until we know that, wear the mask.”

Fauci said that even though he had been vaccinated against the virus, he would continue to wear a mask.

“When you see me out when I am not talking to a screen but with people, this is what I do, even though I am so-called protected from clinical disease,” he said.

The Gateway Pundit reported news from the CDC in August that only 6% of all deaths in the US classified as Coronavirus deaths actually died from the China Coronavirus exclusively.
That means the number of those poor people who died from the coronavirus exclusively is much, much lower than the headlines.

Many local and state governments are shutting down their local businesses and institutions due to over-inflated statistics regarding the number of Americans who died from this China coronavirus.

Although this most like should be in the political forum I will post it here also as it pertains to Teamsters pensions .. Well from what I have read over the last few weeks is that the pension fix language was in the 1.9 Trillion dollar relief package put forward by the democrats.. Well early this morning it passed.. So for me the jury is still out as I look it as a we will see moment.. The only sad thing I see is that this use of political power will become the norm.. Trump used it to get his tax cuts passed.. VP Harris clears way for partisan $1.9T stimulus bill, as Dems are forced to take uncomfortable votes..

The "vote-a-rama" in the Senate that started at about 2:30 p.m. Thursday concluded shortly before 6 a.m. Friday after a marathon process in which Republicans forced Democrats to take votes on tough issues for more than 15 hours.

The Senate adopted a budget resolution for coronavirus relief 51-50 with Vice President Harris casting the tie-breaking vote. It's not a final bill, but allows the Senate to proceed toward a final bill under the budget reconciliation rules, which would let Democrats pass a coronavirus stimulus plan by going around a GOP filibuster as long as their caucus remains united.

The House is expected to move on the "concurrent" budget resolution later Friday.

Senate Republicans were taking advantage of a Senate procedure that allows them to propose a plethora of amendments to the budget resolution, forcing senators to take a stand on a number of issues.
