    Re: Border Crisis

    Kamala Harris gets 'a snack'

So where's Kamala Harris, Joe Biden's border crisis project manager? Looks like she's in Chicago, getting "a snack," according to White House spokesweasel Jen Psaki. Such is the simplified summary of the state of things, based on a snapping, flippant reply by the latter to a question from a New York Post reporter. According to the Daily Mail:

New York Post reporter Steven Nelson acknowledged during Wednesday's press briefing: 'As we discussed here today, Vice President Harris is put in charge of addressing the root causes of the border crisis.' 'She hasn't visited the border or Central America or spoken with leaders of El Salvador or Honduras,' he noted. 'She was traveling this week, took time to visit a bakery in Chicago. I'm wondering, is she still working on this and can you address the perception that she's sort of quietly backing off while Secretary Mayorkas is pursuing some Trump-era policies?'

He is referencing Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas appearing to take a hard-line lead on the border crisis despite Harris' role. Psaki replied: 'The vice president was visiting Chicago, actually, to talk about COVID and the importance of communities getting the vaccine when it's available and accessible to them.' 'So, while she was there, like many Americans, she got a snack.'
Which is a crap answer. For a vice president to "get a snack" (food police note: a non-nutritional one she probably wouldn't eat in private) takes a lot of pre-planning and time coordination from the Secret Service, the White House schedulers, the limo drivers, the press and other organs of administration. She can easily 'get a snack' just by commanding one of her aides to procure it as is normally done, just ask Amy Klobuchar about that one.

It was obviously done for the cameras, given that it was a South Side Chicago bakery, which was likely black-owned. The idea, of course, was to demonstrate that Harris, far from being a rich elitist scion of a Jamaican-origin Stanford professor dad, and an India-born professor/researcher mom who moved her from rabidly leftist fever-swamp Berkeley, California, to spend the other parts of her childhood in Canada, was actually a down-with-it African-American who always eats sugar-bomb treats same as much of the rest of the community (but somehow doesn't get fat). It was Potemkin theatre to whip up black voters, same as she did with those pork things campaigning in lily-white Iowa, and apparently little else.

Greg Abbott Demands Kamala Harris Close Texas Border Facility and Visit Southern Border

Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) wrote a letter Friday to Vice President Kamala Harris requesting the administration terminate the federal border facility in Texas, which houses unaccompanied foreign minors. “Now that President Biden has named you Border Czar in charge of the administration’s response, I want to express to you the threats and challenges caused by this administration’s open border policies,” the letter reads. “In your role as Border Czar, you have a duty to these children and the American people to act immediately. I implore you to act immediately to protect these children, secure the border, and end this crisis.”

“The State of Texas previously warned about overcrowded conditions at these facilities, and now those conditions have led to allegations of child abuse and neglect,” he added. “Our repeated warnings and questions have gone ignored by President Biden, yourself, and Department of Homeland Security Secretary [Alejandro] Mayorkas,” continued Abbott. Your “policies embolden and enrich cartels, smugglers, and human traffickers who continue to ramp up their criminal operations. Given your new role as the administration’s Border Czar, I urge you to visit the border to see the crisis for yourself,” the governor said. The letter also requested answers from the Vice President to a list of questions:

      * Who is assisting these children as they travel through Mexico and cross the U.S. border?

      * U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas has acknowledged that many of these children have been abused or harmed during their journeys. What is the administration doing to eliminate that harm?

      * Were these children forced to carry contraband into the United States?

      * Were these children or their families assisted, coerced, and threatened by cartel members or human traffickers?

      * The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has vaguely suggested that these children are screened by appropriately trained personnel to identify potential victims of abuse, assault, and trafficking, but has provided no further information. What screening is being done? When is that screening taking place and by whom? Are these children being provided a thorough medical screening that may separately identify abuse and assault?

      * How many victims of physical abuse, sexual assault, or trafficking has the administration identified?

      * Is the federal government using DNA tests to confirm familial relations? How else is the administration ensuring that these children are being released to safe, trustworthy adults?

      * What specific measures can the administration point to that confirm that these children are not released to human traffickers in the United States?

      * What action is your administration taking to prosecute those who traffic unaccompanied minors?
The letter follows visits by Republican members of the House and Senate, who toured the border and Texas facilities in which Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said, “if you had any facility that takes care of kids that was even a fraction of what the Biden administration has set up, you’d be shut down.”

“The public health authorities would go after you. You would be fined. You might even be prosecuted. These cages that the kids were in, they weren’t six feet apart,” Cruz doubled down.

Biden's latest Wile-e-Coyote scheme to fix border crisis: Paying would-be illegals to stay home

As the border crisis gets bigger and bigger, the Biden administration is running out of ideas. Latest weather balloon to be floated around is the possibility of U.S. taxpayer checks to pay would-be illegals in Central America to stay home.According to a report from Reuters:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -The United States is considering a conditional cash transfer program to help address economic woes that lead migrants from certain Central American countries to trek north, as well as sending COVID-19 vaccines to those countries, a senior White House official told Reuters on Friday.

The potential program would be targeted at people in the Northern Triangle region of Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, Roberta Jacobson, the White House’s southern border coordinator, told Reuters in an interview, without saying who exactly would receive cash.
Kind of a stimulus check incentive plan for foreign nationals to not break into our country illegally, but instead live in their homelands for awhile, maybe as long as the cash lasts? It's a typical liberal idea of throwing cash at a problem instead of solving it.

After all, it would be just as easy to enforce U.S. immigration law, and who knows, make a treaty with the nations whose nationals are so eager to leave as well as the transit country Mexico. Heck, they might even continue building the border wall, which helps stop human-wave surges, and the cartel profits that flow from them, as well as helps the Border Patrol identify and devote attention to real criminals who try to breach it.They might even encourage people to use the existing legal process for immigration into the U.S., but well, that's never occurred to the Bidenites, that's not how the Biden administration "thinks." Too Trumpy, as it happens. Better to throw cash at the newly created problem instead of reverse course. After all, in the family of Hunter Biden, who can't be bought off?

                      Re: Border Crisis

The White House is spending close to $352 a night to provide beds to the estimated 80,000 migrant families expected to flood the border from now until September, according to a U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement document obtained by the Washington Examiner. The contract rents out hotels in Texas and Arizona for six and a half months — 199 days. In these hotels, 1,239 beds will be occupied by those participating in the border surge, which the government dubs “emergency family reception sites.” After three days of sleeping in the hotel, migrant families who entered the country illegally will then be freed into the United States with a court date to be determined. The initiative is part of an approximately $87 million contract ICE awarded to Family Endeavors, a San Antonio, Texas non-profit that has a former senior official on the Biden transition team, Andrew Lorenzen-Strait. No bids were solicited for the contract.

'In terms of solving the problem, it’s like roasting marshmallows at the scene of the fire,” James Carafano, a national security scholar at The Heritage Foundation told The Federalist. “All that money will do nothing to bring the border under control. You’re burning through an enormous amount of cash, which facilitates more illegal immigration …The potential risk of COVID adds to costs. The cartels are profiting off this to buy fentanyl.” A month ago, Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., tweeted that Biden is “spending around $395 a night per room” on illegal migrants instead of returning them to their home countries. She was ridiculed, but her estimate based on early figures from the contract was an accurate ballpark range. 'So Biden is spending $86,000,000 to purchase hotel rooms for 1,200 illegal alien families for six months,” Boebert tweeted. 'By that math, he’s spending around $395 a night per room. How many of you have stayed in a $395/night hotel room?”

While the hotels carry a price tag of $352 a night for the Biden administration — and thus the American taxpayer — two of the hotels being used in El Paso, Texas can be booked at this present time for a price ranging from $91 to $179. An ICE spokeswoman told the Examiner the $87 million includes 'transportation of the families from the Border Patrol stations that they are initially held at after being apprehended on the border to the hotels, as well as any emergency transportation from the hotel to medical facilities like hospitals and rides to airports or bus stations for families to travel to their final destinations nationwide.” Illegals will have all meals covered, in addition to complementary medical treatment, 'recreational activities,” and laundry. ICE did not immediately respond to a request for comment by The Federalist.

Even though the border crisis deepens, Biden has not participated in any immigration-related events in the past two weeks. Vice President Kamala Harris, who was tapped by the president to examine the “root causes” of the crisis, has not even visited the border yet. The only activities she has participated in have been a phone call on April 7 with Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and a March 30 call with Guatemalan President Alejandro Giammattei. 'I’d say the vice president, if she’s actually addressing this issue, needs to do both, needs to go to the border, needs to understand the conditions that are being experienced, needs to understand and talk to the men and women of the Border Patrol, she needs to hear firsthand what they’re experiencing, because it’s all interrelated,” former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf said at a press conference sponsored by The Heritage Foundation.

The Biden administration is fine raising taxes on Americans, keeping their businesses and lives shut down indefinitely, and cramming through executive orders that strip jobs away — like canceling the Keystone XL Pipeline — while giving illegal aliens free rides.

And even the central American countries are putting the blame on Biden..

Guatemala’s President Joins Mexican President and Blames Joe Biden For Border Crisis, ‘Confusing Messages’

Guatemala’s president joined Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and blamed Joe Biden for the border crisis during a sit-down interview with MSNBC.

“I believe that in the first few weeks of the Biden administration, messages were confusing. They were compassionate messages that were understood by people in our country, especially the coyotes, to tell families we’ll take the children,” President Alejandro Giammatei said Tuesday. “And children can go, and once children are there they will call their parents.”
Migrants fleeing El Salvador and Honduras have to travel through Guatemala and Mexico in order to reach the US border.

More than 20,000 unaccompanied migrant children are now in US custody thanks to Joe Biden’s invitation to ‘surge the border.’

President Alejandro Giammatei said that he has seen coyotes carrying out “horrible acts” like tossing toddlers over high walls.

“This is not humane behavior,” he said slamming the Biden Admin’s claims of having a more “humane” approach to immigration.

“What I can say is that no government, no matter how large or strong, can have that gigantic apparatus that would be required to address 30 or 40,000 people in detention centers and have all of them in a status where they are claiming refuge. As we explained, many of these issues can be corrected, but we have to work together,” he said.

Biden Border Rush Continues: 178K+ Illegals Caught in April. FY21 Total Exceeds All of Last Year by 64 Percent.

The madness at the border with Mexico continued in April, as border agents apprehended almost 179,000 'migrants” who hope the Biden Regime will dump them in the heartland, where they can start feeding at the public trough. The latest monthly total from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, nearly 1,000-percent more than last April, brings the total for the fiscal year, which began October 1, to almost 750,000. If illegals keep pouring into the country at that rate, 3,538 per day, the total will reach 1.3 million by September 30, a figure that does not count got-aways, meaning those whom border agents do not apprehend.

The rush to the border, which President Joe Biden encouraged to hasten the dispossession of Americans and cement permanent Democrat power, is mind-boggling. The numbers depict an unprecedented invasion, a Camp of the Saints-style migration that, left unchecked, will overwhelm the country. April’s figure is 178,622, CBP reported. Added to March’s 173,348, the two-month total is 77 percent of the total for all of fiscal 2020: 458,088. The two-month total is also the equivalent of Anaheim, California’s population.

Last April, agents caught just 17,106. Apprehensions last month, then, were 944.2-percent higher. More frighteningly, the total thus far for fiscal 2021’s seven months, 749,613, has already exceeded last year’s total by 63.6 percent. For comparison, About 753,000 people live in Seattle, the country’s 18th largest city. Biden began encouraging the rush to the border during his campaign against President Trump. Since Day 1 of the new regime, Biden’s lieutenants have been packing border facilities to the rafters with Latin American 'migrants.”

Border Patrol Union: Impossible To Protect American Public With Open Border

The most concerning aspect of the border crisis is the increasing number of illegal aliens who are getting away, says National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd:

“We don’t know who they are, where they’re from, or what their intentions are,” Judd told The Epoch Times. “When you look at border security, when you look at the border, we have to be able to identify who’s coming into the United States. And if we can’t do that, it’s impossible to protect the American public.”
In February, Border Patrol estimated that around 30,000 illegal aliens crossed the U.S.–Mexico border and evaded capture; in March, it was around 37,000; and the preliminary numbers for April show around 42,600 escaped. That’s about 1,400 per day. On May 5, the Webb County Sheriff’s Office discovered 76 illegal immigrants locked inside a residence in Laredo, Texas. On top of that, Judd said, 'it’s very fair to say that there’s a large number of people that are able to get away that we don’t even detect.”

Sheriffs and landowners from all over Texas are saying they’re stretched for resources to deal with the new influx of illegal activity flowing up from the border. Sheriff Pinky Gonzales of Refugio County, Texas, said he’s calculated more than 3,000 deputy man-hours since January to deal with cross-border crime. Judd said he doesn’t see anything on the horizon from the Biden administration that will reduce the trajectory of illegal activity at the border.

'When we do not remove people who crossed the border illegally, that is, in fact, an open border,” he said. 'And I think that as the American public starts to recognize and realize this, I think that there’s going to be a huge outcry. I think there’s going to be a huge pushback. Unfortunately, the damage has already been done.”
President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have said they are concentrating on sending more aid to address the “root causes” of illegal immigration in Central American countries and Mexico.

Jen Psaki: Illegal Aliens Are Part of ‘What the American Dream Represents’

President Joe Biden believes illegal aliens are part “of what the American Dream represents,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Friday. The comment came when a reporter asked Psaki to explain why Biden had just met with six illegal aliens who are campaigning for national amnesty. The six illegals were brought to the United States as children by their illegal alien parents without legal or public approval. They are enrolled in former President Barack Obama’s legally uncertain work-permit program, dubbed Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). The questioner asked, “What message is the president trying to send by having DACA recipients come here? [You] have all these [political] priorities you have to do, [such as] jobs and infrastructure. … Where does immigration rank?” Psaki responded by declaring, “I think the president believes that DACA recipients are part of the American story and part of the fabric of who we are as a country and kind of what the American Dream represents. So bringing them here is an opportunity to highlight that:

The establishment of illegal migrants as legitimate participants in Americans’ society would have major political consequences.
For example, it would allow the government to deny American-born children and adults any priority above any illegal migrants. It would allow the government to redistribute Americans’ limited resources and constitutional rights — such as the ballot, political representation, jobs, good housing, cultural priorities, taxpayer-funded resources — towards many millions of foreigners who break multiple law to sneak into the United States. There are at least 11 million illegal immigrants already in the United States and more arriving every day because of Biden’s border policies. More than 100 million foreigners want to move to the United States, according to Gallup. Biden’s White House endorsement of illegal migration spotlights the economic and political elite’s growing disfavor of Americans.

The elites’ praise for migrants is a form of “xeno-mania” — excessive praise for outsiders, Mark Krikorian, the director of the Center for Immigration Studies, told Breitbart News on May 2: “The worldview that foreigners are better than Americans is clearly a demotivator for our government [enforcement]. … It may well even embolden [migrants] to break the law because the [elite] Americans don’t take it all that seriously, either.” But the praise for migrants is often insincere, he said, because it is used to mask the elites’ economic warfare against the many millions of working Americans who are trying to preserve their families’ wages and wealth amid the elites’ invited flood of low-wage workers.

CBP issues “report to ICE” orders to illegal immigrants

An influx of illegal border crossings has forced U.S. Customs and Border Protection to implement “report to ICE” orders rather than issuing court appearance dates to illegal aliens. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Troy Miller tells a House Appropriations Subcommittee that the CBP began issuing “report to ICE” orders to illegal aliens in response to exhausted resources and overcrowded facilities.

At the hearing earlier this week, Miller went on to say that since Mexico has stopped accepting returned migrants, the CBP has encountered over 178,000 illegal immigrants trying to enter the U.S. in April alone. This aggressive statistic shows the highest amount of illegal immigrants entered in the last 20 years. Of the individuals, 35 percent had re-entered the U.S. after having been removed, provoking frustrated Border Patrol agents to commonly refer to Joe Biden as “let ’em go Joe”.

In a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas earlier this week, Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona (R) accused the DHS of violating immigration law by releasing migrants inside the U.S. without a court date. Homeland Security Subcommittee members addressed this lack of accountability due to the new “report to ICE” orders. As Biden’s immigration policies continue to strain border resources, thousands of children are being left stuck in overcrowded holding facilities and agents are being forced to take on caretaker roles instead of patrolling for coyotes and drug smugglers.

Meantime, Border Czar Kamala Harris still has yet to visit the border. Critics claim this is an intentional effort on the part of the White House to avoid the poor optics of the crisis.
