Time is Now to Approve Transportation, Child Care, Tax Credit Improvements

(WASHINGTON) – The following is a statement from Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa on the need for Congress to quickly pass physical and human infrastructure bills that will invest and rebuild essential networks while also providing affordable child care, job training programs and tax credits for low-wage workers.

'Congress is on the brink of delivering for hardworking Americans. Lawmakers must quickly come together to approve important infrastructure legislation that will boost necessary transportation, electrical and water networks, create good-paying jobs and bring the nation’s economy into the 21st century. This is a bipartisan measure that needs to be approved immediately.' 'The other piece of legislation, known as the Build Back Better Act, is admittedly more contentious, but no less necessary. The Biden administration carefully crafted this measure to raise up workers who have been left behind in Wall Street’s profiteering in recent years that has enriched company executives.'

'Working Americans have received the short end of the stick for too long. It’s time to change that path, and the White House is leading the way. This bill will help restore economic fairness by expanding child care for working parents, the child tax credit, and workforce training programs among other things. Dollars would also be poured into creating new jobs that also preserve the environment.' 'These are not new ideas. In fact, the Roosevelt Institute – on whose board I serve – has previously raised many of them. Our nation needs good-paying jobs and a culture change that supports those on the job. These measures do that, and the Teamsters can’t wait until they become law.'

There you have it ladies and gentlemen... fear no more says Junior himself. You know... the man who wouldn't of made a pimple on his father's ass... inflicted the biggest dues increase in Teamster history... used the strike threat against his own members... obliviated the NMFA... divided its membership... made us vote until we got it right and made concessionary contracts the new norm. Yes sir... we can all be rest assured from now on... sleep snug as a bug in a rug knowing that Junior made sure we would still be well taken care of like he did all during his tenure... even on his way out the door. Good by... and good riddance!!!

This whole nonsense about child care is absurd coming from one of the most powerful union leaders.. How about Jimmy you get the wages back that have diminished or have not kept up with inflation during your term in Office?? We should go back to a one income household.. You know when one parent stayed home with the kids.. That is the kind of household I was brought up in..In today's world it is a two paycheck world.. don't think they ever thought it out.. Couple that bought our has in PA was actually our next door neighbors daughter who wanted to be next to mom and dad so she could go back to work and mom can watch the grand kids..

The $1 Trillion Child Tax Credit Is Really Universal Basic Income

In the Democrat-backed $3.5 trillion Build Back Better Act that funds so-called “human infrastructure,” is money categorized as a child tax credit but acts as a universal basic income for people with children. This expansion of the social safety net is a “turbocharged child tax credit that is really a universal basic income, which will discourage work and cost $1 trillion,” The Wall Street Journal editorial board said. While the bill extends the tax credit through 2025, the editorial board argues neither Republicans nor Democrats running Congress or the White House will ever repeal it.

Democrats expanded the 2021 credit to $3,600 for children under age six and $3,000 for older dependents as part of the March Covid-19 relief bill. It was an increase from the $2,000 that Republicans offered in their 2017 tax reform plan, which was an increase from $1,000. Since it’s a “refundable” credit, it’s paid in a check to those who don’t owe any income tax.

In July, the IRS started paying part of the credit in monthly checks, “all the better to get recipients hooked on regular government payments,” the WSJ editors said.

“It has kicked free of any connection to income or taxes and is now a full-fledged entitlement.”
Some proponents argue it could cut child poverty in half. However, Robert Doar, who ran welfare programs in New York, warned that sending families checks without considering the circumstances of a household could make families appear less poor on paper but could do little or nothing to actually change their circumstances.

In America today, there are 10 million jobs and not enough workers to fill them. Instead of paying people to stay home, people should get a job.

Now the pretend president has to resort to a cartoon presidency...

First it was cartooning of the military ads and now the desperate attempt to get his economic agenda passed... what's next... cartoon press releases. IMO... that's what those in charge really think of our mentality level... yes... they really think that the average Americans are simple minded.
