Teamsters, Carhaul Employer Group Reach Tentative Agreement
After long and difficult negotiations, the Teamsters National Automobile Transporters Industry Negotiating Committee (TNATINC) has reached a tentative national Carhaul agreement with the National Automobile Transporters Labor Division (NATLD), the multi-employer collective bargaining association representing the unionized sector of the vehicle transport and logistics industry.

The National Union Bargaining Committee has fully endorsed this new tentative settlement and believes it meets the goals of the carhaul membership and provides for their long-term job security.

Details of the tentative agreement will be announced when leaders from local unions meet to review the proposal on August 4.

News release from the TDU site:

      Carhaul Tentative Agreement: Be Prepared!
It has been eleven months since the national contract expired, and nine months since carhaulers said Hell No by 87% to the first offer which the International Union tried to sell. Did the International learn that Teamsters are not interested in the concessions they tried to put over?

It’s time for carhaulers to gear up the rank and file network. As soon as information is available we will get the offer out to members. The International is keeping it secret at present, from local officers, stewards, and affected members.

Leaders of Carhaul Local Unions Overwhelmingly Endorse Tentative Agreement

Leaders of carhaul local unions from across the country overwhelmingly endorsed a new tentative National Master Automobile Transporters Agreement (NMATA) today in Detroit, paving the way for members to vote on the contract later this month.

Ballots are scheduled to be mailed out to members on or about August 22 and tentatively scheduled to be counted on September 15. This schedule will allow local unions enough time to conduct informational meetings.

The tentative agreement has been unanimously endorsed by the Teamsters National Automobile Transporters Industry Negotiating Committee (TNATINC). The tentative agreement is retroactive to September 1, 2015 and runs 60 months, until August 31, 2020. The union successfully negotiated wage increases and maintenance of health benefits provisions late into the term of the contract to better protect members’ earnings and health coverage in the latter years of the proposed agreement. If approved, there will be an immediate back-pay settlement of $1,000 to cover the period that has elapsed since the expiration of the 2011-15 agreement.

Proposed Deal Hikes Teamsters’ Pay, Retains Benefits
The Teamsters union reaches a tentative labor agreement covering more than 6,000 drivers and maintenance workers employed by trucking companies that move finished vehicles from assembly plants, deep-water ports and rail yards to new-car dealers across the country.

The 5-year agreement awaiting ratification by union members includes annual pay increases of 1.2% to 1.4% for drivers and yard workers. Drivers currently make between $48,000 and $52,000 per year not including overtime.

The tentative contract, which replaces an agreement that expired in September 2015, maintains the traditional health and pension benefits of Teamsters working in the car-haul industry as well as new protections against trucking companies moving work to nonunion subsidiaries, which the union has fought for the past 15 years.

                    Carhaul Contract: One Year Later
The biggest concession—changing the method of pay—has been eliminated, thanks to the decisive 87% “hell no” vote on Hoffa’s first offer.

The IBT’s “Q&A” for carhaulers actually makes the claim that they “rechecked the math” and figured out the employers were not telling the truth!

In truth, rank and file power defeated that giant concession.

There are other improvements in this second offer, but the concessions still dominate members’ concerns. On a Teamsters United conference call in August, over 700 carhaulers heard leaders and members outline the problems.

An even larger issue for carhaulers—and all Teamsters—is a leadership which cannot or will not organize in our core industries, and which staffs grievance panels with too many people who are in bed with the corporation on contract “interpretations.”

                        Re: National Contract Negotiations Continue

Ok where to start on this ,I know I already had my rant before BUT to start with we haven't had a raise sine June 2014, and they changed the end of contract from June to Sept.. So for 2 + years we have given the company free work,(ie no raise),So they come up with a 1,000 backpay plus the raise at ratification. REALLY a whole 1,000 dollars to make up for what we lost,Yes I know we have increases every year and we have no out of pocket for HW/P.. But really and now to say the companies lied to ya??? I guess what really is funny is when Gross and Moore came to the hall to let us know what was in the contract, they said that we shouldn't be fighting back and forth on the internet/facebook about the election and contract,we are all Teamsters and should show respect, Because the companies that we try to organise watch allthis stuff and they can tell their empolyes "look at these guy's they can't even get along with each other".Excuse me I was at the convention in Vegas, show of respect where was that? Good God don't talk out of both sides of your mouth about respect when I saw NONE at the convention. Guess we will find out in Sept if anybody thought this was any better than the last Ok had a snickers bar all better now everybody stay safe

                          Here is your answer.

                          Carhauler Contract: Concessions Rejected Again

Carhaulers today rejected a second national contract offer after saying Hell No to Hoffa’s concession deal last October. The vote was 1811-1479.

Instead of using the solidarity given them by the rank and file, the IBT actually used the strike threat against the members, instead of the carriers.

It’s time now to go to the carriers and get the members’ reasonable demands met. The members are not looking for sky-high wages, but they are saying NO to any concessions and YES to some gains, with auto production at an all-time high for two years.

And here is the IBT news release:

Teamster Carhaul Members Reject National Contract
Teamster carhaul members have rejected a national contract and the Central-Southern supplement, but have approved the Eastern and Western supplements.

"In light of the members voting no on the national contract and Central-Southern Supplement, we will reconvene our national negotiating committee next week and determine the next steps," said Kevin Moore, Director of the Teamsters Carhaul Division. "At the present time, the union is not calling for any job action against any employer but will evaluate all its options over the next several days."

For the national contract, there were 1,811 no votes and 1,479 yes votes. Central-Southern, 1,810 no votes, 1,217 yes votes; Eastern, 220 yes votes, 26 no votes; Western, 15 yes votes, six no votes.
